22 LR gouging

http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-567261.html

50$ a brick for AE in the EE right now and 13$ per 100 mini mags, which I can see someone buying, but the AE is a little horrendous

Gun Broker in the US bulk price still in the $15US TO $20US area .. adding 25% for exchange still not so bad at $.13 CDN cents per round for 4500 rounds if one wants CCI quality. Considering much on EE looks pre 2013 stock ( by packaging ) one could also be sure they avoid the " jitters " ammo CCI may have been producing in 2013/2014 when they first ramped up .. Last comment not from experience but from posts about some CCI mini Mags on US sites during that period. Example above. Most likely through the system by now .. and seemed to be cosmetic for the most part ..

Then again the yellow tinge to the plastic cases may just be flash related ...

There's another gouger in the EE wanting $65/brick of CCI Standard Velocity

I can't help but laugh. You guys are being ####ed over by your fellow "nuts."

I haven't visited this site in a long time. Hell, I only dropped by to see if my suspicions (re: 22lr availability and pricing) were correct.

It's sad that we went from 6c/shot to ... what is it now? 15-20c/shot? From memory, that's what 9mm was a few years ago.

At this point, shooting sports are definitely an "upper middle class +" hobby.

I enjoy complaining more about the price of bigger rifle rounds getting up to $1.50 a shot, reloading is the solution I guess, I have lots of 22lr.

one thing I do find particularly interesting while I have heard responses to ammo prices and gouging, our weak dollar, price of powder, suppliers charging dealers more, blah blah. why can I buy a case of Winchester target loads for trap shooting for about 2 bucks more than a year ago, 65 last year, 67 now, that's not even the 30% markup on the dollar, so I call B.S on all the excuses, you can keep your 50-90 dollar bricks, it just aint worth over 50.

if you are out of 22lr get out your dusty 1000 plus ft per second airguns and shoot them til the prices drop........boycott the 22lr prices

Or you can get .22 Air gun pellets and shoot them through your .22s with a .22 blank.

The thing that always amazes me is that everybody wants the capitalist system and hates anything remotely socialist.... Yet when confronted with the outcome of the capitalist system people cry foul. The issue is demand and supply as countless people have pointed out and of story. Maybe In Alberta under NDP leadership they will come up with a.22lr redistribution system or regulate the prices :)

A big part of the .22lr supply problem comes from fear of regulations, taxation, prohibition, and in the Canadian situation, a rapid devaluation in currency, all things that are patently anti-capitalist.

When you have a central bank manipulating interest rates and causing massive disruptions in the economy in response to fluctuations in commodity prices and the exchange rate, its a bit disingenuous to blame capitalism.

I have crossed the country from west to east Highest costs ive seen are In Ontario and they also record you data. Nope I did no get on the hoardingwagon should have a crappy brick of Winchester in Kenora is $52.00 most likely going back to the BB gun for shooting chickens

Store in Ottawa advertising:
Winchester 22 Wildcat for under $30 a brick.
Same store. Remington Thunderbolt under $30 a brick.
Remington Yellow Jacket and Subsonic $55 a brick.
Remington .22 Target $45 a box.
Remington "Bucket O' Bullets. $80 for bucket of 1400 rounds.
CCI Stinger $60 a brick. Ouch.
CCI Stand V $8 box of 100.
Winchester Super X. $38 a brick.

Just called. Plenty of stock. Gouging? Maybe. Inflation, exchange rate, etc etc. Shortage? Haven't seen it.

Not all of those prices are bad. No idea why the CCI Stingers are so expensive. By a brick do you mean 500 or a box of 50? Either way, I bought some a long time ago for around $10 for 50 I think. I wouldn't buy them again as I see no value in shooting ammunition that has a different point of impact than the ammunition that I practice with.

I haven't seen Stingers below $6 a box in years.

In this climate that is a steal.

Stingers (out of stock) at Canadian Tire are $8.49 a box.

The last time there were in stock at board sponsor SFRC (which I believe was well over a year ago last I noticed) they were $6.79 a box.

Even Midway USA is selling them now for $55.99 USD a brick, which is a deal down there and more expensive then here with the exchange.

$60 a brick is highway robbery...... for the buyer.

My local CT just got into firearms again for first time in decades. The new owner is going full out. Just got the first supply of 22lr I've seen there in 3-4 years. $6.50 for 50 rounds of that new yellow red and blue box stuff. Don't know the name. Only selling in 50's. Fully stocked though. Too pricey for me. Told the guy stocking I last time I was able to buy 22lr there it was $22 a brick of 500. Federal and win stuff. Positive to see he's stocking again though.
