.22 LR. How many rounds did you shoot in your life?

Have you an idea about how many .22 LR rounds did you shoot? I'm pretty sure, in my case, that I shot a minimum of 25 000 rds. A thousand by year. I got, at least, a dozen different guns to made that.

For myself that's a hard one to answer. Almost 11 years of gopher blasting and small game hunting on the prairies. Followed by a hiatus of mostly archery & high power rifle shooting half dozen years in Alberta, with the occassional gopher shooting trip just south of here in the summertime. And now back to rimfire handgun shooting at matches and my recent interest in black powder muzzleloaders. Too many peaks and valleys here!
 
I wouldn't be able to even guess. I started out with a Cooey single shot when I was about 6 or 7 shooting Gevelot shorts as they were the cheapest and would go through a box a week. Then got a Cooey bolt action repeater that I can't remember what model. When I had extra dollars could afford the high dollar long rifle stuff like Imperial,CIL,Whiz Bangs, Winchester, Dominion and lots of tracers when I could afford them.Plus shot a ton at cadets with a Enfield single shot 22.

I do wish I would have kept some of them as I was looking at what some want for those old boxes and it is almost criminal.
 
I do know that I've ruined a 22 rimfire barrel on my older Winchester Model 490, before I sprung for a Ruger carbine. It's got that horseshoe shaped ring from flame cutting about an inch in front of the chamber. I did get a newish barrel from Western Gun Parts though.
That's from generous days of gopher shooting (about a decade) on mostly a large horse pasture, just south-west of Moose Jaw. Many hares too & a red fox as well, and one raccoon.

Well I'm 25 and id say so far... at minimum..... 100,000 rounds. With the semi rifles we will do easily 1,000 rounds in a day! Which only takes about 2-3 hours. Come to think of it id say more like double that!@

i can't remember if it's 37554 or 37557 and a half :)

but seriously folks i put about 750 through my star pistol
my last 2 trips to the range while i was teaching newbies
who have never shot any thing one girl 2 guys
also a couple friends who had only shot rifles
they all want to go again:D
 
grew up on a farm in central alberta.
went shooting every day after school.
then got into pistols in my 20's.
picked up 2 x .22 pistols, one semi auto and one wheel gun.
now im 40 and into long distance shooting with my 22 to see how far i can reach out with it.

if i had to put a estimate on the amount of ammo ive chucked out of a .22 id have to say its well north of 5k a year growing up.
and i killed 5k last year just at the range.
but i did have about a 10 year gap in not shooting .22

lets say conservatively around 75,000 probably closer to 100,000
and ive only been hit by 1 ricochet! thats pretty good odds!
 
I'd have to guess around 50,000. That's just tryin to remember how many I bought and how many time I had to go back for more. I did have to take the shop vac to areas on my lawn because there was to much of a brassy hue and the grass was dying. I did get some funny looks for that.
 
I'd have to say a rough estimate would be between 50-75000 rounds. Trying to put a number on it is really hard.
 
I have enough mags to shoot 195 rounds with out reloading. 3 25 rnd steel lip butlercreek, 2 25 rnd promag, 2 30 rnd champion steel lips (champion used to be shooters ridge, but these mags suck less), 1 factory 10 rounder. I also have four battledyne mags on order from hical. lol So id say over 5000+ rounds.
 
I go through about 1000-2000 a month (usually in 1-3 sittings) for 2 years shooting and taking others out. So roughly 36000 not counting all the ones I shot as a child.
 
I haven't a bloody clue. :) Lots though, and more every year. Have a nice variety of guns in the safe, but the .22s see the most traffic. And my .17M2. :) That little baby...well..I have about 700 rounds sitting in the safe but I'm off to buy-out everything my local store has today. :)
