.22 LR prices climbing up again

Relax boys, don't get yourselves all frazzled. You can say I have earned my living the last 39 years anticipating prices by following supply and demand cycles.
We all know why ammo prices doubled and tripled the last 10 years, and it had very little to do with metal prices or the Canadian dollar. In recent years, I had seen very low inventories of ammunition in both US and Canadian retail outlets due to hoarding and stockpiling.
This weekend, for the first time in a couple of years, all three US retail stores I visited were fully stock-piled with every caliber. And interestingly enough, ammo is on sale and prices are dropping. The price of a 325 brick was $17.99 US, this is a major drop. It's coming gentlemen, and soon to a store near you. So stop with the panic buying and wait for the irrefutable laws of supply and demand to kick in, they ALWAYS do :)

I hope you are right.... seems to me like more and more large players are engaging in some gouging and price fixing.... oil and gas, internet and cell prices.

If you can buy 525 rounds for $40 it is still pretty good price. I came late to the game and to me 100rds of 22lr is always around $10~11 or up on regular price since I only buy CCI mini-mag HV CPRN. Past weekend Italian Sporting Goods has American Eagle 22lr CPHP 38 gr for sale 4000rds for $269.99 That puts 100 rds for $6.75 It is the cheapest I have seen so far. I didn't end up getting any since by the time I was free to go last weekend it was already 4pm Saturday and I am pretty sure it would be all sold. The cheapest CCI HV CPRN I have seen is during boxing-day sales for about $8~9 / 100 rds still can't compare to the $6.75 / 100 rd price.

May be I should change my ammo but I can't usually find something cheaper. Would love to try those AE CPHP but oh well... I wish I took the Friday off to go get some when they started the sale.

We just did group buy of 32 cases (of 5000 rds) of CCI SV target ammunition for $435 a cases taxes in.
So if we round the tax to $35 that's $400/5 or $80 a thousand and that my friends is the lowest price this stuff has been in a long while.
So I would say prices are down.

$80 a thousand for .22? And those are low prices? Wowsers that's over double what I pay.
Glad every 22lr we own loves 525 Federal Blue Box,

As they say,the best remedy against high prices are high prices. Prices ARE coming down folks, and so the pendulum of life shall always swing :)

The guy at my local gun shop has bricks of cci mini-mags from 20-30 years ago on the shelves. They're even packaged in cardboard
Which I think is older than the yellow plastic minimag boxes . He's selling them for $49.99 My guess is he had them stashed away and saw the opportunity to make some good coin.

Yeah that's a good way to make some serious coin.. if you have the space to store a bunch that is.
Last year I bought a crate of Norinco 556 for $400 off the EE, it didn't say what exactly it was on it so I started looking around the crate to find a stamp and found a bill of sale with shipping slip on it.
I opened it up and the receipt was from 2 years prior when he paid $250 from a sponsor here. So in 2 years it went from $250 to $400 but there are a bunch going for even more.. Seen $500 to even $650 recently in the EE.

The states will just make it illegal but here they are going to make it so only fortune 500 owners can afford to shoot.
