Remington's 597 has proven to be a solid, reliable rifle as well.
We have a 597 and can recommend it, too. It doesn't like the big 25-round banana mags, though, but with the stock 10-round mag it's stoppage-free.
I agree with the others that the 10/22 is better made, but I just wasn't a fan of the shape of it. Here's the shorty 597 with "heavy" (relative) barrel.
