One time many, many years ago [sounds like the start of a fairy tale, but is not!] I was working in a winter camp across a large Northern lake. Camp cook had forgotten to order up meat for camp, and someone suggested we eat moose. Since no objections were voiced, it was agreed that we would shoot one of the many moose that were always hanging around the landings. In camp there was one rifle, my brand new at the time 640K "Chuckster" Mossberg 22 WMR. I was elected to shoot a moose, and that is exactly what I did. Inside of 40 yards, one shot right at the base of her ear, and down like a ton of bricks. Not advocating the 22 Mag as a big game rifle, of course, plus it is illegal in most jurisdictions for that purpose, but shows what can be done when necessity beckons. Regards, Eagleye.
