baught a 22.mag awhile back. havent used it much just wondering if theres anyone out there that uses one often. are they good varmint guns or just gopher guns?

The 22 WMR is good for it's intended purpose...smaller varmints and pests, plus bunnys etc. However, I have shot a couple of 'yotes with mine, but in all fairness, inside of 50 meters. Federal makes a 50 grain load that really does these larger varmints in properly. Shoots well in my 77/22M, but some rifles don't like them. Regards, Eagleye.

It's one of those cal's that a 22 rim fire can do, a 22 mag can do better.

kills most anything a 22 can, only twice as good.:D

Ground hogs and fox would be my max limit or very close coyote that you'd be prepared to track for a few yards.:D

my dad had one my brother has one and i maybe getting one , and as far as i am concerned great gopher ground hog gun small pests and varmint and will do a coyote in at under 75 yards

One time many, many years ago [sounds like the start of a fairy tale, but is not!] I was working in a winter camp across a large Northern lake. Camp cook had forgotten to order up meat for camp, and someone suggested we eat moose. Since no objections were voiced, it was agreed that we would shoot one of the many moose that were always hanging around the landings. In camp there was one rifle, my brand new at the time 640K "Chuckster" Mossberg 22 WMR. I was elected to shoot a moose, and that is exactly what I did. Inside of 40 yards, one shot right at the base of her ear, and down like a ton of bricks. Not advocating the 22 Mag as a big game rifle, of course, plus it is illegal in most jurisdictions for that purpose, but shows what can be done when necessity beckons. Regards, Eagleye.

Perfect beaver rifle.

Sure was!! Darn fine on skunks and groundhogs too. After the .30-06 'incident' with the skunk (try picking that mess up with a shovel!) the .22mag was declared king of property maintenence....

Now you guys have me in a frenzy- got to search the regs for something .22mag sized and in season to relive a little nostagia!

22 mag is a awesome lil gun
shot a couple yotes with mine(50-75 yds)
deadly on groundhogs and gophers, looks cool when shooting crows.
use it for my butchering gun.
freind shot a wolf with his(was under 50 yds)
just cant say enough great things about it
still cheap to shoot 10$ for 50
