Who offers an accurate 22 mag? Swore I'd never buy another one after my Ruger 10-22 mag. It was quite a disappointment in the accuracy department. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. (Probably in a bolt action but would consider semi or lever)

22 Mag

Sorry I didn't specify but a bolt or semi action would be fine. Actually I'd consider a lever as well for the fun factor. Main stipulation is that it is accurate. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

.222 magnum

Art , I have a Winchester 9422mag., have had it for 35 years now , used it for targets and groundhog hunting with great results , as far as accuracy goes this rifle is capable of 1inch groups at 100 yards and a little beyond . ( 135 yards is about the range for .22 mag.) some of the older Mossberg's ( bolt actions) are real tack drivers , if you can find one at one of the gun shows , or on the forum for sale . Marlin made a model 25M , if memory serves me correctly? and Henry also maakes a lever action in .22 mag., my Winchester is worth putting a scope on , but I never have , like shooting it with the buckhorn sights . 22 magnum is a good round for small game at limited ranges . got a little more punch than.22 LR , I have heard from some other shooters that they didn't like the accuracy from their 10/22 's either .check out ...home.epix.net/damguy ... for info on old Mossberg's , good luck ...later Joe

semis

H&K made an accurate semiauto .22magnum.
The CZ 611 is another accurate semi, but mst people consider the H&K to be the most accurate factory WMR semiauto.
I think you can still buy the CZ 611 new.
No two rifles shoot the same, so even buying one of these is no guarantee.
Every rifle likes different ammo, you need to try different brands of ammo before you write off a rifle as inaccurate. The most expensive .22WMR ammo is not always the most accurate.

I just sold a Mossberg 640 KA bolt action .22 mag because it did not meet my accuracy standards. It would not do better than 1 1/4" at 50 yards with any brand of ammo and I tried them all.

If I were to buy another one I would get either a Marlin bolt action or a Savage.

22 Mag

Look for a 2nd hand Anschutz. I was lucky to find a used 54 Match Action 22 Mag and it easily shoots 1/2 to 3/4" at 100 yds with any ammo that I have tried. Haven't used the new CCI with the VMAX bullets yet.

I have a remmy 597 laminate/blued and am very happy with it it cycles any ammo and will shoot 1'' @ 100 yards with the rem v-max ammo and win supreme.I made 1 shot kills on groundhogs last summer out to 235 yards and I use it for jack rabbits all winter. A friend of mine shoots a marlin 922m semi, it shoots decently and cycles exellent also. I also had a 10/22 mag and did not have to worry about the accuracy as mine would never cycle consistantly no matter what ammo I used.

The Brno 611 in .22 mag. has been discontinued for a few years. Brno went out of business in 2005. CZ made a CZ 511 not very long ago in .22 LR and may offer them again.

I special ordered an Anschutz 1516 D KL from Wolverine last year. It took ten months to arrive from Germany but after shooting it I have no regrets. It was expensive for a rimfire, around $1100 to my door. I can wholeheartedly recommend this rifle, both in terms of accuracy and shooting comfort. It has a beautiful walnut stock and only weighs 5.5lbs. :D Cheers

I just picked up a minty, early (pre-checkering) 9422M. Excellent fit and finish, handy and very accurate with the stock open sights. It's not an Anschutz target gun but a hell of a lot faster handling and serves for the purpose I bought it for :) I like it so much I just bought another 9422 XTR so I could shoot inexpensive Long Rifle ammo too ;) Love those 9422's :D
