If you can operate a manual can-opener than you should be able to perform the take-down/assembly of a Ruger MKIII. You just need to know what you're doing and why you're doing it....

Funny, I rarely hear complaints about can openers..... but give it enough time and someone will complain about the takedown gymnastics of a Ruger .22lr.

I just wish someone would make a decent manual can opener today...... I've eventually settled on a french one that is based on an old design and still made the same today.
So much crap out there.......

I am with gdrew and also recommend the CZ Kadet, if you can find one. Full size frame and great reliability.

The Kadet's are pretty sweet shooters but I'd give the $299 Grand Power a run and put the rest in the ammo chest.

There's something to be said for a semi auto .22lr that will shoot anything you load into it with out choking.

If money is not an issue then without getting stupid the Smith & Wesson model 41 would be almost impossible to beat.

If money is an issue then go down from there. The CZ kadet is a really good choice but not nearly as nice as the S&W model 41.

Since you have the budget, go for the Walther Olympia.

They are incredibly sturdy, supremely well made, and ridiculously accurate, both with and without the barrel weight.

The design is excellent. Disassembly and reassembly don't require studying Youtube videos - it takes about 5 seconds, no tools required.

I have the Norinco copy (the "Norconia TT Olympia") and it allows me to appreciate the simple and elegant design.

The only real drawback to me is the internal hammer, but you would have that drawback with the Buckmark or the MkIII. The other drawback with the Olympia is the 8 shot magazines, although apparently 10 shot mags exist. I guess the S&W 41 is a rough copy of the Olympia, and is probably ok too.
