Hi all,

I am considering picking up a .22 revolver. I admit to being partial to the top break design, but I don't really have a good reason for this other than that I like the idea of it. I am looking for opinions from those who have more experience with such things.

Thanks
Karl

I love my old Model 17 as well. If you like a single action, find a Colt Frontier Scout, they are the Cat's Derriere as well. Can't go wrong with either of those. Or, if you have all kinds of mad money to spend, go crazy and find a Colt Diamondback. That is what I really want to get still, but when they show up the money being asked is Python money. Not willing to do that.

I love my H&R Side-Kick, but I do want a Top Break as well.

High Standard .22 Sentinel Deluxe are good value and are out there. The trick is finding one that isn't worn out.

Have a H&R Sportsman 999. Highly recommend those as well.

I've got a Sportsman as well. A fun gun to operate but not half the shooter that my S&W is. I only keep it for the uniqueness of the design. I shoot it occasionally but the groups are rather open compared to a lot of my other guns and down right massive compared to what I can shoot with my better rimfire handguns. The S&W 17 being one of the better ones.

So it all comes down to what you want to do with the shooting.
