220gn 30-06

My T3x 30-06 is sighted in with 180 Interlocks 1.5 “ high at 100, max load sub MOA, I also carry 220 RN’s that shoot dead zero at the same distance also sub MOA, It is a perfect system, I can swap magazines, and have the option. Over the years I have gained great respect for RN Interlocks, and still use them in .25, 6.5mm, 7mm, .30, .35, .458
 
When I was a kid in the ‘70’s that’s all that my dad and his friends used for moose; 30/06 and 220gr. Winchesters. Worked very well, but this was before it was fashionable to make YouTube videos about shooting moose a mile away, it was just about getting meat. And they did.

Yes and I still have some but haven’t shot any game with them so can’t comment on performance. Accuracy is great.
 
While I can't speak to downrange efficacy, with a Limbsaver pad, my Hva 1640 Thuddy-aught-Six shoots 180 gr S&B softpoints quite well, and these will work on anything I care to aim them at. I tried a few 200s and 220s I traded a buddy for, and can't see the benefit in exchange for the additional shoulder bruising.

Not the Aussie... But the bullets work great. Plenty of moose with the 215 303 Brit version. Very reliable, and they expand well. Have shot a few from a large 338 for testing as well. The only thing to suggest would be to pay attention to the recommended impact velocities. Keeping them within those speeds, are they perform very well. Faster, and they come apart as any cup n core would. Slower and they don't open up as well.

That box must be fairly old?

I don’t remember the exact year I bought them but yes many years ago when Tradeex was selling them. Again, no experience on game but the Weldcores aren’t cup and core but a bonded bullet from my understanding. Still need to pay attention to impact velocity but I don’t think they would come apart like a cup and core?

I bought from here a bunch of nosler partitions 220’s “seconds” for I think a good price, never loaded them so far, but I want to turn my Ruger m77mkII into a dedicated 220gn gun!
My browning bar with 200gn shoots pretty well and at a decent speed of 2550fps .

Ahhhhh, Figured they would be older, Don't think they make them anymore.
They are a cup and core with a crimp ring on them. They claim a process that "fusing the pure lead to the gilding metal jacket, hence the name 'Weldcore'."
And yes... push them hard enough and they come apart. Having said that, they are a tough bullet.
