.223, .308, .7.62X39, etc banned

it doesnt?
im sure at least 80% of new guns bought in Canada came from or through the US.

and .223 & .308 are two of the most popular calibers.

im sure the loss of many Canuck gun buyers wont exactly bring the US economy to its knees, but it sure doesnt help either -- especially seeing how they are struggling. i wonder how much time, effort and taxpayer money went into this brilliant decision and its implementation.

these days i just sit back and watch the US in fascination like a kid watching a dying ant farm: whenever i think they cant possibly do anything any stupider, they go and suprise me.

Having 10% of the US population, even if all other things were equal we would still only amount to 10% of their business. Take away the lack of full auto, add more daunting rules and regs for everything from aquiring to where you can shoot, and we dwindle quite rapidly from that 10%.

Why do you think for many US dealers it is too much hassle to deal with Canadians? We ain't worth it, that's why.

sure but this is a change that will affect sales globally, not just Canadian exports.

my point is that right now it is absolute insanity for them to be wasting time and money implementing RESTRICTIONS when they are on the verge of economic collapse.

when US dealers are struggling to stay afloat because Americans no longer have the disposable income to buy guns, dealing with Canadian customers who are all too happy to spend money will be much more appealing.

Does someone have more info on this? I was in the market to buy a .223, but if this is true and it will just be a huge headache I will just go with a .17hmr.

This is outrageous and must be repealed. Does this affect reloaders as well, or only factory ammo?

anyone got more info on this?

Wow...just when you thought you'd heard it all. Next it will be anything that was ever a military caliber.

That is EXACTLY what they are trying to enforce.
Anything military of domestic OR foreign use either past or present, as well as any civilian calibers of the same dimensions.

Yup what a great plan:mad:

There is much more to report, but too many CGNers crap on me for aprising the gun culture of new restrictions. This is only a small part of what is coming down from DOS

i can hardly wait for the Proudly Canadian Made, $2000 version of the Stevens 200.

LOL. If Savage fires up a centrefire line at their Lakefield plant, they'll have the Canadian market all to themselves.

Or we can import Tikka's and Sako's right from Finland.:)

If you extend the ban logic to any round ever used by any military - you may as well count the .22 LR, 12 gauge, .50, 7x57, 8x57, 30-06, 308, 223, .45, .38, .357, all the mannlicher rounds that i cant think of, .........
hmmm was the 30-30 ever used in the special ops guns -- I think so?

That is why after the WWII a lot of fine 8x57 were rechambered to 8x60 being a non-military round and therefore bypass the then new laws. So we have to go 7x60, 8x60, 30-06 AI, 308 improved
and on and on it goes.......

seems to me that the us manufacturers could ship up complete rifles with only a rough chamber that could be finished on this side, via pull through reamer, no?

The title and first post of this scared the crap outta me until I saw the date... phew.
My heart did not need that as a new shooter with only .223 rifles...

IBTL

.
Bureaucrats are the same, no matter where they are. You never know, someone might want to take on an Abrahams tank with a .223.

The same bureaucrats are probably responsible for the gasoline crisis. Nobody checked the oil levels. The oil wells are in Alberta and the western U.S. States.

The dipsticks are in Ottawa and Washington.

.

Cha-Ching! I like that quote.

It's getting to be like Europe. I was talking to a moose hunter visiting from France, he told me all military calibers outright banned over there. .223, 8mm mauser, 30-06, whatever - you can't own them or get ammo for any of them, period.

This is a REALLY dangerous trend!

You can thank the UN for that crap. Meanwhile, the corporate demigods spray us on an almost daily basis with
aerisols of aluminium & barium salts to de-populate the world. That's why the f**ks want to disarm us.
Wake up folks.

These restriction are completely reasonable.

How else do you think the US can win the war in terror?
