I am thinking of ordering 1000 rounds of sellier and bellot 223 ammo for my Stag Ar15 . is this ammo desent for $500 for 1000 rounds. also how is the brass for reloading? is it better that remington UMC? accuracy out of an AR???

thanks

Its good stuff. 2-3" inches at 100 yards. 500/1000 would be the going price these days. I remember when I bought some for $350 at Target and thought it was high.

I would say its better than UMC and yes the brass is great for reloading.

what else should I be considering? do people reload the 5.56 nato rounds, or are they a pain because they are crimped?

You may also want to consider PMC ammo. Good stuff, with good reloadable brass. Both the Shooting edge and Canada Ammo carry it.

If memory serves, and feel free to correct me, I do belive it's got crimped primers, and its of Korean Mfg.

Like all mil brass you will need to get a tool/die to remove the crimped in primers, but the up side is that generally its heavier brass, which should lead to good case life as a result. Your Milage Mau Varry tho.

All the standard cautions of relooading mil brass appiles (ie heavier brass, means slightly reduced case volume and as a results, reload powder level start points need to be reduced an additional 5% to compensate)

Just my 2 cents

I got a case of the SB stuff a while ago... I find it more accurate than UMC stuff, and I don't have problems with it extracting in my 10.5 ar like i do with the UMC stuff.

I was watching "Marines" on the Military Channel, and they practice with thier 20'' HBAR 1/7 Colt's at 100/200/300/400/500 yards.

How accurate is the 5.56 NATO at 500 yards on human targets? Anyone shoot service rifle at 500 yards with .223?

Avoid any ammo that is not crimped into the cannelure. This is true for any semi auto. I looked at some of the S&B ammo...hard to tell if it was roll crimped...Winchester white box certainly ISN'T.
