Yup - that's the one. Looks like the .223 used within it's limitations, along with a proper bullet and well placed does the job. That was the whole point of the original post.

Well that was rather underwhelming, with how it had been discussed my curiousity was admittedly piqued. Unless I'm reading it wrong, there was one deer shot with a .223 (with a rather evident throat hit), a few beavers and coyotes, then .308 RFB gun pics, and a .308 RFB with which a fellow took two respectable deer over a couple years. If I was you I might not use that one deer, or that thread, as a reference for the .223. This all said if a .223's what you have, go for it, just be sure you know what you're doing.
