Despite much deserved respect for the 60 gr Partition, my .224 game bullet of choice is the 45 or 53 gr TSXs; they just work, and both shoot well in my 1:12 CZ. Years ago, I tried the 70 gr Speer in a M-700 .222, and while accuracy was alright, for a game bullet, it was not inspiring. But both accuracy and performance of this bullet increased dramatically in the faster twist barrel when I switched to a Gaillard 1:7 . . . not that the accuracy from a factory tube should be compared to a custom match barrel. As others have said, a dispatching load can be made with almost any bullet over a pinch of fast burning pistol powder providing standard rimfire velocities. An accurate FMJ load is useful should you get a shot at a fox; I've been shooting 50 gr TNTs, in both the .223 and a .222 Magnum, but they have proven pretty harsh on fur, producing baseball sized exits.
