223 too light for wolves?

Wow lots of great info! Thanks for all the replies. Mine has a 1:8 twist so I just might stock up with something heavier like a 70g!
Will give it a try anyways.

what about shooting a woyote? reading in the paper that some wolves and coyotes have been cross breeding in the area, making for some rather large coyotes, large enough that they are actually taking down full sized cows.

If you are specifically targeting wolves with a 223, you'll be fine, just consider 2 rules ....no FMJ and no varmints rounds. Use a TSX, GMX, Partition or other type style/constructed round.
