22LR @ 100 meters.

I took the CZ452 out to the range yesterday and shot some decent 50 meter groups and at the end of the day I shot it at 100 meters to see how much drop there is from 50-100...I aimed at the top of the target and it hit about 9 inches low near the bullseye.
Next time out I will set the scope for elevation, almost hate to move it as it shoots well at 50. I was using a sharp black and white target which seemed to help.

No need to change the zero if it still lands on paper. You could also put another piece of paper below and just use the actual target as aiming point.

Try using a target that helps you align the reticle. A round circle works terrible for that as its hard to tell if it's in the same place consistently.

We shoot 22lr at 100 yards almost weekly in the summer . I use a 24 power scope , but prefer 36 .
We often shoot MOA or slightly less with tuned CZ's and Savages using middle priced target ammo
like SK Standard Plus or RWS Championship Edition . It would be posible to do so with a $600 gun ,
but you would have to do a lot of tuning and find the ammo your gun likes the best . Tasco and
Hawke make some inexpensive scopes that can get you there . I use Weaver and Sightron scopes
that cost as much as your buget though .

Where do you get high end ammo? All I can find is bulk of any kind. Did find some Yellow Jackets at Walmart for $60. a brick. Didn't buy it, needless to say. But thats HV stuff anyway. When you say groups, how many rounds are we talking? I have a CZ 455 Lux in 22mag that ONCE shot 5 shots in 1/8 inch at 50 with Maxi Mags. Could never do it again. Also Have a Savage Mark 2 BTVS in .22LR and find it better than my 1022 off a rest at 50 but don't often get 1 inch with 5 rounds, forget 10 shots. Mostly using Reminton Golden Bullet HP bulk which is accurate compared to the other Bulks I've tried. Had an old box of Stingers which turned out to be the most accurate believe it or not. I was surprised. CCI mini mags are ok but no better than the Golden Bullet in my gun.
Winchester Power Points which were best in my 1022 are all over the place in my Savage. Would be very happy with a consistant 1 inch at 50 as I am really not into the super accuracy thing. Most exciting competition for me is gopher shooting with .22LR/.22Mag.

I have four bricks in the safe plus a Winchester bulk pack. I buy it when I see it wether I need it or not. Luckily the local store got a big shipment recently. He said he's getting shipments he ordered 2 years ago! 100 rounds of cci is about $9. I bought 2500 rounds of cci standard a while back at $215 dollars from a guy at my gun club. I was in cabelas yesterday the the selection was almost non existent and prices were brutal. I think it was almost double the local guy

100 yards. 2 sighters at the top, 10 shots in each bottom target. Ring most of the shots are landing in is 1.6"



200 yards. 22 shots. Yellow circle is 4.7"



300 yards. 22 shots. Yellow circle is 9.6"


22LR can easily shoot under 1" in calm conditions. It's been tested:

That was done so that the shooters could see where they were hitting because there are no butts. The target menu facture even made a special ones without the blue and the red (the 200 yard target is one).

Recommendations for getting good results at 100m with your CZ 452:

• If you wear progressive power eyeglasses do what 'Papaclaude', post #23 did - I did likewise, big help
• Use a scope with adjustable objective or side parallax adjustment - this is a must for .22LR
• Mount the scope on a "forward declination" rail (15 MOA, i.e., minute of angle) OR use Burris Signature Zee rings with 'posi-align inserts' to give the same effect. This type of set-up will allow you to dial up the elevation the needed 30-40 clicks and not max. out the elevation adjustment so you will see through the optical centre of the scope. All this is not 100% necessary, but will help.
• Use match grade ammo. In our experience in N.S. we have found that CZ 452's do well with SK Standard Plus which is sold by Lapua (see Hirsch Precision CGN ad)
• Consider installing a YoDave trigger kit. I found that changing the trigger spring with the second strongest spring in the kit drpped my trigger pull from about 3 lbs to just over 1 lb - a real help in shooting small groups.

Bluebell you are right on in giving advise to shoot a 22lr well said. A/O is a must when changing from 50 y to 100 and 200 y
For me power of scope should be min 24 x with A/O. if I could afford it the new Nightforce Competition would work great.
I have shot a few groups at 100y under 1/2" but conditions must be perfect 0 wind. Finding the right ammo is paramount. Here is target I F/U at 100 y
Rifle Rem 40x with 2 oz Jewell trigger and bedded every thing is original using Lapua Midas+
I also have a Rem 540 that has shot under 5/8 " at 100 y

IMO, not knowing what your eyesight is really like, I would look at a pair of BRNO peep sights. For 100m, in a good rest, they should be capable. You may be amazed at how your brain can center circles...

If you need touching groups, really the stock CZ may not be the appropriate rifle, with any type of optics.. Then there is the problem of mounting a scope, assuming you don't want to remove the irons. If you remove the rear, you can stuff a Bushnell Elite 6-24 or even 8x32 on there with medium or high rings (I used Burris sig Zees medium with the J&P adapter for the 11mm dovetail and it gave just enough bolt clearance).

FWIW, I have gone back to irons, the lack of FOV with target scopes limits the rifles use substantially, and mine has a taste for squirrel.... I am going to look into building another sporter, but it will be based on the CZ 453 American, which has a better stock and no irons for that purpose.

Heck, the tangents on your 452 can get a 6 inch at 100 with some gentle trigger work. With practice you can do it offhand. Granted, I shoot a 453 Lux with the SST, makes a difference.

Any standard velocity round at about 1000 fps will work wonders for you. Just use ammo that is subsonic (1127 fps is sound barrier) and you will be amazed what you can do. About a 6" hold over at 100 yds works fine for me, but 1" groups? Nope... I find there is too much drift for that. However I do shoot clays off a back board at 100 yds and have no issues plinking them.
