22lr and grouse.

I use CCI Quiets for grouse (and rabbits) simply because I’d rather not have to bother fishing for lead shot.
What is you range with the quite? A friend of mine used them in the past on ptarmigan and lost a few birds…

My scope is zeroed at 15 yards with the Quiets. When I feel I need to compensate (up or down) I try to ensure I miss towards the chest rather than over the head. A couple of years ago, I bagged 2 spruce grouse in tree by aiming above their heads … and hitting them at the base of the neck . Distance was about 5 yds and at a 45degree angle (roughly).

Grew up using my break action .177 pellet gun. Started using the 22lr when I got a bit older. Still use it all the time, if your going to attempt body shots use non expanding rounds, they also make lead free 22lr now as well.
Been using my 17hmr with fmj rounds with great success as well. Quite a bit louder. Also carry a .22 pellet pistol at 495fps now while I'm on the quad, and head shoot anything on the trails during the season. Works absolutely amazing. I have used shotgun, I have a 22/410 chippa, and I only ever use the 22, 410 for backup of needed. But you can't beat a headshot on a grouse.
