Would someone mind recommending me a .22LR bolt-action rifle? I'm looking to pick one up for shooting with kids. I was thinking something with a heavy barrel and nice wooden stock. I don't know much about rimfire rifles.

thanks

If its for kids I wouldn't get a heavy barrel. Young arms might have trouble supporting it.

Take a look at the Savage rimfires. They are built in Canada and of excellent quality. They have rimfires for the smallest of shooters (Savage Rascal) and up.

CZ 452 Scout would be a good choice. It's smaller and lighter, so easy for kids to handle, but still big enough for you. Pretty sure theres one up on the EE right now.

Savage MkII would be an excellent choice. I also have a CZ 452 LUX. Both are extremely accurate and well made but the MKII is a better bang for buck IMHO. The stock is nicer on the LUX but the Accutrigger is amazing on the MKII. If your planning on using a scope I'd probably recommend the MK II over the LUX.
If you aren't married to a bolt action, my Henry .22 octagon barrel lever action is by far the most enjoyable to shoot out of my .22s.
