The Ruger's are superb shooting guns but the grip angle can mess things up if you want to shift from the .22 to a centerfire pistol that has more of a 1911 grip angle. And the cheaper 22/45 grip is too thin for most folks. They make a 22/45 with replacable grips which SHOULD more accurately mimic a 1911's grip but it costs more. I only offer these thoughts because while it's a great gun it can mess up things as a back and forth training gun due to this grip angle issue or thin 1911 style grips.
Otherwise I'm a strong fan of separate .22 gun. Not only does it save switching back and forth it also means a second gun which a buddy can shoot while you're shooting your center fire gun.
