.22lr pistol thoughts

The Ruger's are superb shooting guns but the grip angle can mess things up if you want to shift from the .22 to a centerfire pistol that has more of a 1911 grip angle. And the cheaper 22/45 grip is too thin for most folks. They make a 22/45 with replacable grips which SHOULD more accurately mimic a 1911's grip but it costs more. I only offer these thoughts because while it's a great gun it can mess up things as a back and forth training gun due to this grip angle issue or thin 1911 style grips.

Otherwise I'm a strong fan of separate .22 gun. Not only does it save switching back and forth it also means a second gun which a buddy can shoot while you're shooting your center fire gun.

If you got the money the CZ kadet is the best full size 22 on the market period! It is pricey at around $900.

Now that said you can pick up a used CZ75 on the EE for $600, and a kadet conversion kit for $450, or a G17 on the EE for $500 and the AA 22 kit for $450, and you have the best of both worlds.

I have owned both pistols and they are great, but only had experience with the Kadet as far as the .22 conversion goes, and it is super reliable and accurate.

It all comes down to what you wanna spend.

The GSG 1911 is an amazing deal at under $400! And then you can buy whatever centrefire you like, and have 2 guns instead of 1.

The kicker is that if you want to get into any competition shooting games the conversion will be a better tool for developing skills.

I bought a GSG 1911 .22 tactical model and ran various bulk ammo through it. I was astonished... They all cycled! I had a sig mosquito and they are definitely ammo fussy favoring mini mags. The GSG was accurate and fun. The fake can is kind of silly. It seems to amplify the noise. The pistol is well built and is relatively inexpensive. I recommend it for 1911 fans that want a sub cal version.
