Re: 17 hmr...

That's a good one Tyler!

I'd be interested in a .234-250 Savage with a 1-6" twist to shoot 120gr .234 bullets. Be a beautiful little cartridge for my boys when they start hunting.

Lol.... I am waiting for an update from douglas on his progress..... just dont want to see a good thread get derailed and closed over a debacle around the legalities of shooting a defletched arrow through a .410 is all..... we all know how quickly that can happen around these parts..... :dancingbanana:

^ good point I just hate seeing this thread down a ways on the page .

I think a 234 would make a perfect low recoil new Hunter gun . And also a long range marksman gun . With how busy I have been lately with business and house renos I don't know if a 234 would ever get used . I just got my rifle ready for bear hunting the day after it open

Not good

I have a timberwolf hunt booked.... taking one with a hyrax woukd just be the bees knees.... and the reloading experience I could get as a novice reloader would be lightspeed.... damn I cant wait for hunting season.....

I'm still trying to decide which rifle to take for WT..........down to 7 RUM and 300 WSM, or maybe 6.5X55 with 140 Nos Parts or maybe the Bob with 110 ABs..........decisions, decisions, decisions...........OR maybe a 230 Hyrax.........

Without testing the hyrax...... take the bob hands down..... if the hyrax is built and tested an marshal provides suitable bullets then be the first to make a harvest with the hyrax....

Yup need a .23 for that. No other caliber would fill those roles.

Laugh2

Pointing out the obvious is not trolling.

From some of the posts here it sounds like there is going to be some sort of earth shattering - game changing otherwise unattainable performance level with the introduction of. .23 caliber cartridges. It's just so damn funny

It's a fun diversion, to be sure. Nothing more. :)

It always amazes me how the pot enjoys calling the kettle "black..."

Mr. New King...

let's not get derailed by the troll...............sorry there hasn't been a lot of progress, wifey has me busy, busy, busy........cause her family is coming next weekend for a week, and she wants me to get 6 months worth of work done in the past 3 weeks, so everything is perfect for her family.............WILL be building the Hyrax at least, next week, come hell or high water..........

Finally got a 100 mtr range built in the pasture with a good "dug into the hillside" backstop and a new bench..........can't leave targets on the back board though as the donkeys don't like it and tear them down........kinda funny critters them donkeys !!!

Ya know .... I've been reading these posts off and on for a bit and I can't decide if you guys are serious about this or this is all a lark. Some days yes, some days - not so sure. The title caught my eye in the beginning as I've oft wondered why there isn't a 23 caliber available. The Alberta regs stipulate nothing under a .23 caliber can be used for big game and there isn't one (that I know of anyway). It sounds off the wall enough to try ...hmmm...... I have 6.5x55 that I don't shoot enough ......yeah a hydra-whatever-you-called-it.... see! you have me thinking and I'm told to avoid that if at all possible cause of all the trouble that happens when I try to. *sigh* to quote Tommy Castro - It Ain't Easy Bein' Me

I think I'm gonna get in trouble again.................
