This sounds s'pen$ive...............:sok2

Well, nothing went well and no guns were built, still can't get the barrel off the 458.................profiled and threaded a barrel for a Hyrax, started to chamber it and broke the reamer.............new cutting oil which doesn't seem to work well at all...........ordered a new reamer this am from Kiff (PT&G), picked up a steel rod in town and removed the broken reamer from the barrel, now I will see if I'm not too far in to build a Lynx, if I am then it will become a Douglas................It never rains, but it pours........Will have new cutting oil Mon specifically for stainless...........minor flaws, it will all come together..........still getting used to my new lathe, and the controls aren't second nature yet..........another bit of a problem, it slows me down a lot, but I can tell I'm going to love it once I'm more familiar with it.

What kind of lathe do you got ?

I bought a new Taiwanese 14 X 40 from Busy Bee last fall and have it all temp set up in my garage while I complete work on my gunsmith shop in my big shop.

As every guy in western north america goes ..."AWWWWW MAAAANNNNN !!! Lucky son of a gun!!!"

We are just completing our new shop and I was hoping to turn a portion of the mezanine level into a reloading room. The "BOSS" says she don't want gunpowder in her woodworking shop...lol

Negotiations continue.
Regards,
Dave

I've ran with out for about 6 months .. Gets old quick . Dial indicators all over the place.. I was working in a hydronic cylinder rebuild shop .

If you have the cash and you do more than a little machining get read outs . Life becomes much easier, more so when your forgetful. Biggest thing w read outs is keep them clean .

After you move sell the seacan shipping crates and buy em.

I was hoping he would put some windows in the seacans so I have a spot to crash when I come out for the jamboree..... lol

Well I just chambered out the remainder with a 22-250 reamer and it did NOT clean up so I guess it will become a 230 Douglas...........Sorry SB but what can I do it's already threaded for the Marlin so you boys down there are going to have to settle for a Douglas or wait for a while until I get another 22-243 reamer.
How stuck are you on the Hyrax..........or would you still be just as happy with a Douglas. If you stuck on the Hyrax then I'll have to pull that barrel out of the lathe and start from scratch on another barrel and thread it up for a 700 Rem before I can actually build a rifle and shoot some 234 bullets.

What say you..........you're the one with the stock..............

Actually haven't ordered the stock yet chief.... was waiting on project progression and all... pretty good thing I didn't with th engraving going onto it and all.... lol....

It doesn't matter to me either way Douglas, To be honest, I think either of the 4 would be flat shooters and great Timberwolf cartridges..... Maybe I will take a whitetail with the Douglas as well.... :) .....

I am in no rush and this is your project, so you make the call..... I am even considering just buying a donor action and sending it your way with some cash to purchase one you could just send back to me instead of a sampler, I see Epps has a few 270's in the rack for cheap........ either way is good for me....
