Tell that to Ron Smith and then roll your eyes at him!No, don't. A borescope will not tell you anything worthwhile. The only important thing is how the barrel shoots. The condition of a barrel is totally irrelevant as long as it shoots well.
Uhhhhh ....... do you understand how a barrel is made? One does not bore out an existing barrel and change the caliber.
I used to shoot gophers with a 70gr Ballistic Tip at ca. 3600 fps out of my 243. That combination absolutely vapourized gophers.
My Bad - Sorry my "assumption " that it was a Wbee -Bolt faces on a Mauser can be opened up Jim.
Could rechamber to a 240wby necked up to 257 with the rebore and keep the bolt face. You'd just have a very expensive 2506 with a belt lolMy Bad - Sorry my "assumption " that it was a Wbee -![]()
I've had the 25-06 and 257 bee and there is a difference.Could rechamber to a 240wby necked up to 257 with the rebore and keep the bolt face. You'd just have a very expensive 2506 with a belt lol
I meant neck the 240wby case up to 257. That way one could retain the smaller bolt face. The 257 wby is a much bigger case. Great cartridgeI've had the 25-06 and 257 bee and there is a difference.
He means 25-240 Wbee Same as a 25-06 but it would be way KoolerI've had the 25-06 and 257 bee and there is a difference.

DennyOver the years thousands of used rifle barrels have been bored larger and a new chamber cut. At one time that was more popular than rebarreling.
25 on the 240 case is ballistically a 25-06. The 257 bee is on a larger case. - danI've had the 25-06 and 257 bee and there is a difference.
I see that now that I reread your post.I meant neck the 240wby case up to 257. That way one could retain the smaller bolt face. The 257 wby is a much bigger case. Great cartridge
I definitely don’t shoot it much now. Hoping to have many years with this rifle.I have a Custom 240 Weatherby on a Winchester Mdel 70 action. I as well, have only about 200 rounds shot out out it. Velocities in which the gun accepts is, 3,684 average with, 90 grain Accubonds. The accuracy has not dropped-off, case-in-point, I have better accuracy, than at the begining. Barrel is a custom 27" stainless steel, made by Bob Jury from Red Deer.
You have many life-years remaining on you're barrel. The antelope in my avatar was killed with that 240. DRT!
