Hey fella's

I have the itch for a new deer rifle. I'm torn between .243 and a 6.5cm. I want a caliber that can drop a buck within 200 yds, and is still enjoyable to take to the range on weekends. Any recommendations?

Cheers,

Me, I'd go 6.5 CM.

Used a 243 while growing up, and have no beef with that caliber. 6.5 CM for range fun, for sure, as I think you have more options for bullet weights to buck wind better. You will find yourself reaching out further when you get the chance to with the 6.5.

I'd go with 6.5. More capable all around, with only slightly more recoil. Decent factory loads are pretty affordable and easily found these days too.

6mm Remington…. Just kidding(kind of). I think if you wanna shoot lots, the 6.5c is better regarding barrel and throat life!
You get a bit better choices bullet wise!

I bet he doesn't know about bc
BCs don't matter at normal hunting ranges. If you're trying to wack a gong at 1000yds, sure, but the OP asked about hunting inside of 200yds.

The whole man bun thing is getting old and it shows how little you know about the 6.5 creedmoor.

It's an excellent deer hunting round.

Sure. But so is the 243win. Comparing the two inside of 300yds and they're practically the same. 6.5CM has a slight edge in wind, but drops more. In practical terms its a coin flip.
