.25 acp

Since I know next to nothing, I am in a good position to help you out. :D

For power, .25 ACP is roughly equal to .22 LR. Actually, I'm not sure if it is more or less powerful; I do know it offers less penetration. It is, however, more powerful than the .22 Short which is the other calibre commonly offered in "crotch pistols". Being centrefire, it is far more reliable than any rimfire -- this is why the mouse guns offer it.

All of this is irrelevant in Canada, of course: .25 and .32 bullets are notorious baby killers and have justifiably  been outlawed here.

For what it's worth, one manufacturer (North American?) sells a higher powered .25 necked-down from .32 ACP. It is illegal, too. Go grab yourself a .500 S&W. Nobody objects to those.

The Speer manual 14 actually goes on a bit of a rant about how some people insist on using the round, and they only even print info for it because they thusly feel obligated. If you get the chance to read it, they really trash and heap scorn upon the little round. From a 2inch barrel, they get roughly 1000 fps, with a 35gr Gold Dot, and around 800fps with a 50gr FMJ.

I've also heard it said, that it one of the cruelest killing rounds there is, as it doesn't kill you right away, it lets you live long enough to die on the operating table 8 hours later. Definitely not a dependable stopping power defense round.

I remember watching COPS a few years ago and the call was of a male shot. They showed the gun (a .25) and the fairly large man who was obviously upset pacing around. He was shirtless and had a small bump under his skin on the other side of his body. The point I am trying to make is while it mave not have flattened him, he was sure f**ked and had the bullet been placed better would have very likely been fatal. I have always been interested in tiny guns. It's drives me nuts that I can't own any.
