$25 FREAKING DOLLARS!?! Win '97 parts @ Numrich

quit #####in

you think $25 absurd for a screw? I tried to order $12 worth of circuit boards and ICs today, and they wanted $72 to ship from Missouri. Cancelled that one quick.

Gun Parts Corp is a really good place to buy parts and guns. I think you should be mad at the us gvt and not them. They don't make the rules and they will still deal with canada, when most won't. Have you looked at their list of who can't buy parts, most of them are NATO allies!

Same thing happened to me with a rifle, made arrangements with Brafasco and brought the rifle over, after they fondled the rifle for a bit they gave me the screw. If you have an industrial supply store near you, you might try the same.

I paid the fee a while back...need about $10 worth of parts from them again...maybe everyone that needs parts should do a group order...

I ordered some parts from them over a year ago now. It was only a $5 fee then. As someone mentioned, their costs have gone up with regard to exporting so like anybody else, they're passing it along to the customer. I don't blame them. In their shoes, we'd all do the same.

I think the idea for a group order is a good one. Maybe we could start a "Numrich Order" thread where people who need parts and aren't finding them elsewhere could post in there and combine for a group order. Then just split the $25 between the people ordering. Whoever starts the thread gets to be the pointman (or woman as the case may be) and once the parts arrive, see that they get forwarded to their final destinations.

I've ordered from them several times and had my shipment within 10 days every time. Just the fact that they have parts and get them to me so fast is just about enough to make me order and pay the $25, even if my order is less than that........

They haven't charged it in the past. What suddenly changed? (...)

Lots. Google "ITAR". In January 2008 President Bush signed some presidential directives relating to US exports. And then other stuff happened.

I often wonder what makes people so suprised when one day [blank] isn't the same anymore. Things change.

The cost of export licenses increased dramatically last year. They are probably just recovering the extra cost for them to have the ability to export.

The fact that theyre even bothering with it amazes me.

(...)Seems flat out excessive.(...)

Based on what?

They haven't charged it in the past. What suddenly changed? I've always found their service to be great. The woman's response to my gasp on the phone was "Yeah, we don't get a lot of Canadian orders anymore" They don't seem to broken up about it. Hey, it's their business , they can do what they want. They have bits that no one else does, just be aware you hafta pay.

It's not such a big deal when you have a large order. And it isn't really new - I been paying it for a while, since last year i think. The US govt bureaucrats keep re-interpreting the rules and it's hard for US businesses to keep up. Most of them didn't bother, just told us canucks to piss off. At least Numrich tries, and i hope people don't dump on them too hard because when they're gone so is easy access to a lot gun parts we can't get anywhere else.
