25 RPM

I see what you mean, but those would be lead cored. The monos tend to be quite a bit longer than their similar weighted lead cored counterparts...Barnes recommends 1-9" for their 115gr TSX for example
I've run 115 gr X bullets in my 1-10 twist 25's, with some success. How much longer is the contact shank on the 117's? - dan

Hi Dan,

The 115gr TSX is 1.228" in length it is a flat base bullet which helps keep the length down. It also doesn't have a polymer tip, which adds length as well

I can't find a length in the 117gr, hopefully someone can chime in there

For reference though, the 101gr LRX is 1.208" length - the boat tail, more aggressive ogive and the tip all contribute to extra length.

Here is a stability calculator if you'd like to run the numbers.

S.G. of 1.0 is stable in flight, some have shown that increasing S.G to 1.5 can help maintain straight-line penetration when it comes to terminal performance and reduce the possibility of deflection/tumbling on impact, especially with lead free bullets.

Interesting tool!

Didn't know about the 1.5 recommendation for straight tracking etc

Thanks. Guess I'll have to go find some and give them a whirl. - dan

Sadly, new rifles chambered in 25-06 are few and far between. It is like a treasure hunt to find 22 and 25 CM's to buy here in Canada too. Who is the first on here to build a Tikka 25 RPM? Giddy up and post some pics! :)

While I likely wont buy the 25rpm what it does do is create a market for new 25 cal bullets and that is a good thing
Im going to stay with 2506 or maybe a 2506ai with a fast twist and long barrel
I've been patiently waiting for heavier 25 cal bullets
The faster spin seems to create more upset to what ever media i shoot when comparing 22 cal projectiles so a faster spinning 25 shoukd act the same
My 2506 struggled with 120gr bullets. I could never get them to shoot well

What im interested in is the best 500 yard coyote rifle under 275 cal that has bullets that buck the wind and have a high chance of fragmenting inside a coyote. The 75gr vmax really gets pushed in the wind and runs out of steam after 400 yards. Its not fur friendly inside 200 yards though. Adding heavy weight controlled expansion bullets moves it from varmint and deer rifle to a true big game gun and ads extra smack when ranges get a Lil long
