25 RPM

Nobody is trying to solve a problem. Nobody is lobbying the firearms and ammo industry to finally find a a cartridge that will be able to kill a deer. It gives news options to shooters and hunters for cartridges and bullet combos that are more modern, that aligns with the current trends.

Not directed at Smokinyotes but in general, I never understood the mentality of people who just like to poo-poo new cartridges and new bullets, especially on a gun forum. You can keep shooting your .30-06 and 180gr Corelokt, nobody is going to take them away (for now anyway).
Exactly ! 👍

It is what forums are, a place for people to argue on things they believe is best or worst… sometime just for the sake of playing the devil’s advocate 👹! We all know that more of everything is better than less of everything( even if I think in some circumstances less is more…) so more choices is better. I think what makes people react is the way they market the stuff like if it will change the world of hunting or shooting and that if you are not using the latest you are a looser. I mean listen to some of those outdoor/gun writers lol some of them have been writing about guns and ammo for decades and still make assumptions and still talk bs most of the time lol it is ridiculously funny at times!!!
But man go a head and jump on the new stuff and spread the good news of it being so much better than the rest… if it make you feel good all the better(just directing this to the general direction of everyone on here lol)

I don’t have a dog in this fight cause I already have a 257 wby and the RPM doesn’t have the case capacity the old wby does. If it was something that made my 257 look obsolete. I’d have one.

I didn't realize the shoulder was bumped back on the 25rpm, my bad. I didn't read the whole thread. Obviously it wasn't designed to compete with the speed game of the bee, it was designed to shoot the high bc bullets better than the bee. It looks like a well designed cartridge for a standard action although I would've preferred no bump back.

Without the shorter case, it wouldn't work very well with the long heavy 7.5 twist bullets out there from 128gr +

If you want to shoot a 100gr Speer soft point very fast, there's the 257 Wby Mag for that

I used to say "Weatherby, fast at the muzzle, slow downrange" but this new RPM is an exception to that. Now the fudds can say "RPM, slow at the muzzle, fast downrange"

Indeed.

The Weatherby 307 Long action offers a magwell of 3.95".

Remington 700's allow 3.7" in the magazine

Heck even Browning x-bolts will give you 3.5"ish

It must be very important to engineer as much extra room in the magwell as possible. By optimizing those high BC bullets for 3.34" OACL, is that to prevent interference under recoil and keep those high BC tips as pointy as possible?💡👍

...for downrange performance??

That's just too woo for me man 🤣

All joking and criticism aside, 130gr-class 25cal bullets are special. They hit a sweet spot where high BC meets Low Mass and are taking over in various disciplines of competition. It's great to see the 25s coming alive. I think they are here to stay, and I hope the 25RPM is too.

It picks up right where the 257AI left off, and with a 7.5 twist, that's a very cool place to be 😎

I’ll stick with my 25 cm for now. That mark v rifle is 3g’s that’s US price too. I’m not sure there’s reamers out yet. Hard to get if u ain’t American.
Also it’s hard to get components here in Canada for 25 cm I can’t imagine trying to get rpm. Great idea they trying to chase Hornady with cm and prc but let’s see if it sticks. Plus shooting PRS I haven’t heard people using it, maybe recoil is a bit more or equal to 6.5 prc. Also with those numbers surely burns barrels. But let’s see how it goes….

My choice would be sticking with the 25-06 if you have one - develope a good load, you can always neck down 30-06 range brass.
Too many cartridges not enough funds. Browning no longer are making the BPS because it was that good - companies need to constantly introduce products in order to stay profitable. Just my economic 2 cents worth.

...or when the chamber calls for it. Never thought of myself as a fudd, but if this is the defining characteristic, OK.
OMG…after reading all these posts I realized I just might be a Fudd. lol
I think I’ll go to my man cave now and play with my half dozen 243Wins, about eight 25/06Rems and six or so 270Win and try to figure out which one/ones are better. Oh cr@p, also forgot about all the 6.5’s stashed away in Billy’s happy box. Seems I had the same ‘problem’ picking out my fav girlfriend from the dozens I had to play with. Something to reflect on while watching a Miami beach bikini fashion show on utube right now. Variety is the spice of life, even for a Fudd. Cheers !!

If one finds this new offering ticks boxes for them, then fill ur boots and enjoy!! If one finds it’s redundant and pointless for them, then just don’t buy one. I’m not a lever action gun guy but when I’m hunting I don’t care that half the guys I hunt with use levers. I also don’t drive a model T!! Haha
