25 RPM

So the whole benefit is running a 130+ bullet it seems.
I’m not into doing a simple search so who makes a good hunting bullet in this weight range in 25?
Is a 130+ partition available?
What’s the heaviest TTSX?
As a casual observer on the outside has heavy for caliber hunting bullets caught up to the new 25’s?
Not asking about target bullets or rebranded target bullets for hunting.

new Nosler Partition? :ROFLMAO: I think the most recent NP release was the 6.5mm 100gr in the late 1990s

Sierra has a 131gr TGK coming, Barnes has 117 LRX (found in RPM factory offerings) and Hornady has the 112 Cx

With the shape and size of the case, the size of bullet and the velocity what would be estimated barrel life you think in that new cartridge?

Ron is entertaining in a car salesman sort of way; he has a character that’s fun to watch but not that knowledgeable and a salesman first and foremost so with that he’s entertaining but full of it.
His two minions…they need work.
One might have hope but needs to mature and gain knowledge, the other needs a day job…
As far as YouTubers go I’ve been watch this Desert Dog guy and USOG lately and enjoy them both with no criticism for either; I usually learn a bit, am entertained and enjoy their content without feeling like I’m watching an infomercial…

So given the responses on bullet availability can I assume this cartridge is to appeal to target centric shooters who don’t hunt much?
I’m just not seeing the appeal yet, given the selection available.
Maybe in a year or two my opinion will change as new bullets become available which I think is likely but if I’m buying a new 25 rifle today and just hunting with it I’d go 257W and if I was just target shooting a 25CM but given the spare action I have kicking around I’m far more likely to rebarrel it to a slightly faster twist 25/06 in a full length barrel even though it could fit the 25RPM…
But selection is a good thing I guess.

Looks like a sensible 25 caliber cartridge, Weatherby will sell lots of rifles chambered in this cartridge, especially in the US, available in the Mark V six lug and the new Weatherby 307 action rifles.
Happy to see they are offering 4 different factory loaded ammunition options, this should help with cartridge longevity…..

Throated properly to utilize heavy for caliber high B.C. bullets.

Low recoiling flat shooting deer/sheep/pronghorn/predator hunting cartridge.

Famous Gunwriter Bob Milek (RIP) who wrote for Guns&Ammo, Shooting Times & Peterson Hunting respectfully would probably have loved this cartridge as his favourite deer hunting cartridge was the 25-06, in a sense the standard bolt faced 25 RPM could be considered a modern version of the 25-06.

I ordered a 25-6.5 PRC reamer so I will test this cartridge out first before jumping on the RPM bandwagon !

Damn it will never end hahaha new cartridges that do the same thing as old cartridges( I know they are different, so different)
It is tiresome; designed to fix things that are not really wrong by not changing much, and separating gullible, excitable newbies from their ever shrinking dollars.

At lease, when everyone starts dumping their .243s etc. you might get a deal; but if I wanted one, I would already have one.

Go ahead and spend, you know you want to.

I like Ron, great journalist and entertainer; but who would send Ron stuff to review if they weren't going to get an endorsement or promotion of their product? Ron is very diplomatic in his promotions, and since most hear what they want to hear, instead of reading between the lines, don't hesitate to throw money at the next pipe-dream that comes along.

Let someone else do the research on their dimes, and see what shakes out after 10 hunting seasons or so. You may not have the "latest and greatest", but you also won't end up with the dud of the decade either.

I saw this coming with the Weatherby PR trying to create hype for a few weeks. i agree its nothing mind blowing and doesn't really do anything new or fix a problem, but realistically, did we have a problem or gap in performance/range/need we needed fixed with what's out already?

Everyone hated/hates the 6.5 CM. Even if its essentially nothing more than a short action 6.5 SWE, it did bring more shooters and hunters to our sport/hobby ( good and bad), but all the new things do grow more shooters and hunters. So i guess its good in that sense.

Eventually the new shooters/hunters will settle on something they find is their best tool, just like we have in the 308/30-06/270/300WM ( insert your go to cal here). in the meantime, im just happy it gives me more shooting/hunting content to watch

The more “specialized” these cartridges get, the smaller the market becomes. Once that “knowledgeable” segment becomes the desired target for the product, it is doomed to fail?
Most on this forum know this thing is a turd, and easily outperformed by other cartridges with readily available reamers and dies.
The reality is, the available tech is the limiting factor. Powder in brass can only go far, as can a 68,000 ish psi limit. Yes the Backcountry case is available… but that is also a very small market.
So… the turds will keep coming, as the “industry has to survive” and we’ll all be here with our pitchforks and nooses! At least until the tech improves.
The marketing industry will continue to thrive…

R.
