My gunsmith should be just about done my barrel in .25 Souper for my Savage 16 bolt-action. I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do. Not that I'm expecting anything that 100 other cartridges can't do; I just like the quarter bores and exotic stuff. I figure I can get it up to the .257 Bob pretty easily, and maybe further. I wouldn't mind seeing pics of your 99. Did they just ream out a .250 Savage chamber, or completely rebarrel a .308?
I forgot about that one...........now if you really want a short action 1/4 bore screamer the 25-284 is just the ticket. It was so popular at one time that Speer actually had data for it in their manuals.........
It would have to have been rebored from .243" to .257" or re-tubed. The basic chamber for both is the same, but the bore size differs. The modell 99 left the factory as a .243 and at some point in its life was rechanbered to 25 Souper.
