Because he teaches to how to have touching bullet holes ( or one friggin' big hole after 24 rounds ) at 7 yards. With Glocks. Helped me a step forward.

Thanks for the clarification. I've never shot or scored competitively so I was being conservative. It's more motivation for me to get better to have all rounds clearly in the 10 ring. :)

Thank you for the thank you :) I think you shoot way more accurate than me now, but wait till I get my new glasses done (when I get $$ for it), already have a new Rx and more so - right eye at front sight distance and left for distance... that should help a bunch with my high Rx :)

I don't think I've ever even tried shooting at 7 yards. I'll have to try it out, maybe it's harder than it sounds. Don't think I've ever made a one hole group at any range with a pistol, unless the first shot counts as a group ;)

I printed the target (10 copies), going to the range with a buddy on Tuesday, will try the 25 yard 10 round group after a little practice. I have a new to me Deagle and Raging Bull both in 44mag to shoot and I haven't played with my 1911 for a while so hopefully I don't embarrass myself. I've been spending too much time with the rifles and have neglected my pistols in 2014. I'll take all 5 of my handguns and see which one does best :)

Can we use a fricken laser? lol.

Depends how fast you're going, what you're doing, and to what accuracy standards you're being held.

At 7 yards, a draw from concealment, 2 shots into a 3x5 card, a reload, and 4 shots into an 8" circle is very challenging if you're trying to get under 5 seconds.

50 shots into a 2" circle at 7 yards in under a minute is also tricky...you start to fatigue.

And, of course, as you say, you've never done a one-hole group. Punching a single hole with 10 rounds at 7 yards is a good workout.
 
One interesting thing about fatigue - it teaches you a LOT about yourself and the way you shoot :)
I'd say it's a must in teaching or learning. Thou, we all know "nobody can teach but one can learn"... :)
1K rounds in contiguous 3hrs run can teach more than same 1K in 3 months.

I agree to a point. When your arms are so tired you're shaking and your hands are sore, its time to stop. Shooting X number of rounds simply because you feel that more rounds equals more practice is false. Poor form due to fatigue is simply a waste of ammo and often frustrating as you see your performance degrade and begin to doubt your abilities.

My take is - when one is tired and cannot concentrate as much either, they fall back to habits and/or their most 'natural instinct'. That's where you catch them. If they are smart enough than ('then' could have been used too :) me think) they could catch themselves and observe themselves to learn on.

I disagree. If I'm training hard and running a bunch of tests at the range, 250 - 300 rounds is about as far as I can go before I start to lose focus, and/or my forearms are getting tired.

I pretty sure that anyone who can shoot 95 or higher on a B8 at 25 yards can consistently shoot one hole groups at 7 yards. I've not always known the reverse to be true though, for a lot of factors. That's not a slam against anyone, just stating my experience.

I agree with all of this. I can do 500 rounds in a day if I have all day but I need a lot of breaks. 250 rounds is about perfect for me for one trip.

Trying to keep this thread on topic and relating this to accurate shooting at longer distances - I'm curious what TDC and other super accurate shooters do to shoot really tight groups. Is your physical conditioning and muscle motor control at the point where you can have a rock solid sight picture at 25 yards, or are you like me where your gun is moving around a bit and you pull the trigger when the sight picture is "about" on target and hope for the best? :)
