25 yards accuracy of Norinco double stack 1911 45ACP /NP 44

The fatter grip might well negatively affect how accurately a person can shoot these. Getting a proper grip is really important for handgun accuracy. Might work fine for someone with really large paws, and pose issues for people with average size hands. Be interesting to hear what owners think.

I don't think grip size is as much of an issue as the gun writers make it to be. I happened to look at a number of handguns not long ago - a Browning HP, a G19, double stack and single stack Norincos. The grips are really not that much different on the doubles - 9 or 45.

^^^Lining up the sights and a proper trigger press has more to do with accuracy than grip or stance, not saying a proper grip isn’t important but it is lower down on the list. Plenty of videos of experienced shooters lightly holding their pistol etc etc and hitting their poa, a good grip will help control recoil more easily.

I believe that proper trigger pull is the most important part of handgun accuracy, even more important than a perfect sight picture. And that is why grip size is so important. If the grips don't allow you to get your trigger finger on the trigger properly, you can end up not pulling the trigger straight back. It can undue an otherwise good trigger. I'd be surprised if a double stack 45acp doesn't get wide enough that some people struggle to get a great trigger pull.

totally agree... That's how I figured out along the years.. Sight picture isnt a rocket science... and imagine, even an imperfect sight picture (and assume perfect trigger pull) should result only very minor shift on the target impact. But the other way around could miss the entire target at 25 yards.

Well, anyone else try theirs out yet?

Results were less than stellar. Accuracy wise it seemed sufficient but the gun drops mags like crazy. Two different types of mecgars. Wouldn't feed with over 3 rounds in a mag either.

But accuracy wise it seemed to hit well once the sights were dialed. Usually I won't touch the sights on a new gun for a few range trips but they didn't try very hard over in china when they installed the rear sight. Hah

The single stack guns I believe aren't overly picky with mags, but the ones it came with seem to work a bit better; which isn't uncommon with auto loaders.

I did notice that the feed ramp doesn't look very smooth. Ball feeds well, but I should polish it one day.

North Sylva said this batch accepts double stack Para and Remington mags.

I have some original Para Ordnance mags inbound. Hopefully they work well if I have issues with the factory mags.

Do the new Norcs use Para mags? The old ones did not. They used a Bersa mag.

i ordered some mec mar para 14 mags so we will see how they fit

I got a chance to go over both guns. I decided to name them Gun 1 and Gun 2... No accuracy tests until tomorrow but I did a quick field strip and cleaned them. Both are pretty well identical as you would expect but Gun 2 has a pretty terrible trigger. Lots of pretty sloppy creep with a pretty hard break. I'm guessing disconnector but 1911s aren't really an interest of mine. Tenda sent three targets with the package. Works out perfectly for the three types of ammo I will try!

Ball or SWC mine feeds them all, no issues; never touched the ramp. 180 and 200 gr SWCs seem to be the best for me accuracy wise; and I load light.

I got some testing done before I had to take off. The gun is clearly more accurate than myself. 25m with a platform I don use much was a challenge. Here are my results, 25m offhand, firing somewhat slowly. Point of aim is the Bullseye, upside down targets and the Flyers are my fault... I'm impressed with the sights being close to where the needed to be. I just pulled it out of the box and got to it.

LEE 230 TC/4.5grns Red Dot (Gun did not feed this profile well)

With the exception of the TC ammo the gun fed and fired 100%. No mag issues or anything to report. The gun is very wide but fits my large hands pretty well. I like them enough so far to start building a .460 Rowland from one and likely a full rebuild of the other using high end parts.

I'm jealous, mine ran like shyt out of the box. But nothing some time can't fix.

Anyone else notice with the mecgars mags (both the half plastic and the full metal crimped) are basically impossible to get 10 rounds in without the mag springs binding up?

The norc mags seem to run the best and are easiest to load.

Just got mine in! Put a EGW slide release in and have racked it nearly 500 times to smooth out any burs on the rails. I’m surprised by the quality it seems really nice.

I have four original Para Ordnance mags and I'd say they Norc mags are nicer aside from the baseplate. The Para mags do run 100% so far thankfully. Mine are 10/14 mags so I can't comment on the loading issues.

When I am home again I will adjust the sights and shoot off a rest. I think my lack of skill diluted the answer you were looking for.
