Once upon a time, Weatherby included a version of the MK-V rifle with a 6 lug action called the Whitetail Deluxe in their annual catalog, perhaps 1993 or '94; it was chambered in .250 Savage, and IMHO was one of the nicest looking rifles ever produced by that firm. According to Ed Weatherby, the rifle never went into production.

Hello. Thanks for your PM. Sorry for the delay in responding. Not many people know about the Whitetail Deluxe rifle primarily because we never went into production. To my knowledge only one was produced and we never did offer this model for sale. As you know it was to be in the .250 Savage built on the 6 lug Mark V. The concept for this rifle was right before we moved our production from Japan to the U.S. and because of the forth coming move we postponed the Whitetail introduction. Unfortunately it never made it back to production. It may be something we consider for the future as it is one sweet gun in the smaller action. Thanks for your interest and your patience for a response.

I like the Remington M-7. Stocked in Kevlar or fiberglass, a M-7 with a 20" #2 contour Ron Smith barrel in .250 Savage, topped with a 1.5-5X Leupold would be a useful little outfit, but if I went that route mine would be a .243.
