257 Weatherby

I had one in an accumark and two friends of mine have one now in vanguards because of what they saw mine do. I reload for both of them (100gr barnes at ~3600fps) and the 257 surely is a dandy. As others have said weatherby brass can be had for $40 a box, hornady also makes brass for it. For factory ammo, the best deal is the 100gr norma spitzer loaded ammo for $40. Good bullet and you get good brass as well. Most often though, especially just for fun shooting, I resize 7mm rm brass and it works perfect. 264 wm brass works just the same.

This is a caliber, that once you have had and used, you will never want to be without at least one rifle in 257 WBY and 2 is better. I personally prefer W-W brass and make all my 257 from 264 WM which WSS seems to have an endless supply of. Be careful using 7mm RM brass as I had neck thickness problems years ago after using some R-P 7 Mag brass to make 257 from, no big deal but had to turn the necks, this is why I went to 264 and haven't had an issue since.

Be warned though, this is NOT a cartridge you can "eat up to the hole" as they say. In fact usually nothing within a foot of the hole is edible!! I still love it!!

My 700 CDL SF loves 110gn Nos AB and RL 25, 3 shots right around 1/2" @ 100 mtrs and velocities with the RL 25 are crazy.

Deer ribs are over-rated as tablefare anyway.

Dogleg;

That looks awful familiar, I took 2 BG caribou with my old one many years back. Both were front shoulder shots one at 200 mtrs or so and the other at about 400 mtrs, using the old 120 gn Speer FB bullet. There was nothing edible from about mid ribcage to nearly the ears, both bullets exited as well so it got both shoulders. Instant bang/flops, both!!!
