26 Nosler claim

The invention of new cartridges like the 26 Nosler does not affect daily life for me. I can't understand the complaining every time a new cartridge come out. Is it that bad for some people they lose sleep or something????

I'm not a "hater" but the cartridge lineup has had no empty slots in it for some years.
But manufacturers have to generate the hype to convince folks their latest offering is something that they can't live without.
At least a new round has a practical use, look at all the crap that is peddled world wide by big business that is completely useless.

My point is you don't have to be a hater to be disinterested and be cynical about the marketing hype. I'm sure the bean counters have it all figured out.

I have to grudgingly admit that lately I have considered a variety of stuff like the .243 WSSM, the .325 WSM and some other similar chamberings. After all, it seems like they are the only ones with bags and bags full of brass on the store shelves. :p

This. I let the shelves do the talking. If it is an abundant round with a decent price, then I'll definitely consider it. Also 6.5mm allows it to be used out of big game tag season in Ontario (under .275). The 270 is .277 so it doesn't make the cut.

It would seem we need a 274 dia cartridge........................just for the legislators in Ont....................:D:D;)

New factory cartridges make some people very upset.

These same people can very excited if the same cartridge is a wildcat and custom rifles and forming brass is required.

What is with all the ridiculous rules in Ontario? You can not shoot something bigger than .275 in the bush out of hunting season? Do I understand this correctly?

I agree, why so much over thinking and #####ing whenever a new cartridge comes out? You don't like it don't buy it, too easy.

I think a lot of these new cartridge designs are aimed at (pardon the pun, it was unintentional) the less informed or educated shooter. Not everyone reads reloading books and ballistics tables by the fire with a bourbon on the rocks every night, nor does everyone have a room in their house dedicated to their guns and reloading gear. A lot of guys buy the magazines, read the articles and ads and believe what they see as gospel, fall for the hype and go buy the products. This cartridge is for those guys that want the latest and greatest, want the fastest cartridge out there, the shiny new rifle and scope, so all their buddies will be in awe at hunt camp in the fall. Almost everyone knows this guy, he is every where, at every gun club, in every hunt camp, probably a regular at the local gun shop. He trades guns like the rest of us swap our underwear, and will even give the rifle credit or blame for having made a terrific or a missed shot. He will kill a Boone and Crocket deer, or a 7X7 bull elk and claim the rifle will be his forever, then next year he will shoot one in the guts or miss completely and then the next day trade it in blaming the gun because "it" made the bad shot.

Large companies have to keep bringing out new products on a regular basis to keep sales going. Otherwise they are perceived as not being progressive or innovative, standing still so to speak. The bulk of their sales will be on their bread and butter products, like Partitions and Ballistic Tips etc, but they need something new every few years to stir up some more sales. Good for them, it gives us something to talk about, maybe even buy and play with it for a while, whatever. There are generally spin offs too, X bullets and GMX, Partitions and A Frames, Ballistic Tip and SSTs, the list goes on.
