260 Remington

BSAND can't even shoot on the "right" side; plus he's a liar, doesn't live in Vancouver BUT over the bridge on that side and shoot in Redneck country aka Mission :) <FlameSuitON>

Yeah, BSAND's thread was what got me researching the DTA. Interestingly he said he still would get a coyote if PGW made it lefty (funny they don't given Steve is a lefty).

Happy with consistent 1/2MOA groups. Not one of the guys with factory Savage/Remys that can shoot 1/2 MOA all day long.
BSAND is your man for info on all of those pieces.....

Unless you wanna try for .1MOA groups, I'd do the DTA. There's a lot to be said for one rifle that you are "one" with.

Yeah, my H4350 powder just arrived at my doorstep. Time to load up the 139 Scenar and 140 Match hunting VLD. The 139s with varget were getting 5 shots .6MOA groups in CTR at 100m. Saving the VLD for H4350.

Hopefully one day will get to hunt with the 140 VLD. Time to move to the interiors.
Seriously thinking about new rifle in 6.5
6.5Creed. 6.5-284 Norma, 6.5x55 Swede all kind of fall aside when set my sights on .260 Rem.
Would like to hear pros and cons, yeah or nay sayers...
Planning to get lightweight rifle, probably Sako Carbonlight in this cal.
Will use, hopefully, for mountain hunting but deer size critters will most likely be 90% of the purpose...

I chose 260 Rem. It was between that and the swede. Came down to the short action. Realistically, I will never take a shot past 300m being in SW Ontario but I can use it for just about everything down here. I'm sure the others are just as wonderful but I've had no complaints with the 260. It's a do everything for me. Now if I wanted something really different I'd look at the 6.5-300 Weatherby. Overall I don't think you can go wrong with any 6.5.

I had a .260 in an early 700 Ti when they first came out and now have had a 6.5 Creedmoor in a lightweight Howa Alpine.
And after using both I'd never go back to a .260..

Is it really that better?
I like 6.5Cree.but afraid with all firearm and ammo shortages that will run into trouble with brass and any accessories if ever need any. Maybe i am overthinking the whole process but i also never thought finding good .22LR will ever be a problem, nowadays it cost arm and leg and there is periods in GTA it is hard to find good ammo if not overpriced already...

I love the .260 Rem, for all the reasons listed above. Fantastic SD, easy on the recoil, Lapua brass, never fired one that wasn't accurate, the list goes on. And it makes all the more sense if you're thinking of a small light rifle like the Sako you mentioned.

Exactly what i thought of them without ever using one,
Had Ljungman AB42 in 6.5x55,my first rifle i used for hunting

If you go with a tikka T3 you might as well go with a 6.5x55 as they're all the same action length and you can squeeze a little more oomph out of the 6.5x55.

I love my T3 in 6.5x55. Made some great hits at 680 & 740 yards with it over the weekend.

I mentioned it earlier that I bought the Savage LWH.... Just wondering if you're hung up on the Sako? The savage is the same Guarentee of 1 inch, and mine easily does that, is the same weight and same barrel length and is now available in stainless model 16/116, and the trigger is better, though before I start a flame war Sakos do have nice triggers.... But it's 1/4 the cost. So unless you're hung up on the carbon, which is cool.... 3999.00 is a lot... Now I have a Blaser so I get the quality rifle thing.... So I guess it matters if yer really Jones-ing for that particular piece of kit.

I think it is overpriced as well but wanted to get ultralight mountain rifle in 6.5.
Already have .308 Kimber Mnt.Asc. And love it but want something in 6.5 and magazine would be nice too.
For mountain hunting i really dont need one but unfortunately i wont be able to hunt sheep and goats all the time.
Planning to move to BC hopefully and already have 300WSM that will keep for bison and grizzly, rest of the critters will be served again hopefully with 6.5
Right now in Ontario i dont need anything better than 270WSM or 308,have both of them and want to sell them to get nice 6.5.
260 Rem. somehow has most of the "check marks" because of brass availability, factory ammo occasionally, short action rifles,
Wanted light mountain rifle and any x47 or -284 which are all great would put me in custom rifle division which somehow doesnt have its own" check mark" at the moment.
Sako Carbon is expensive but love their actions, already have/had some and never ever had unaccurate or bad one...
They are also one of the rare ones that actually make rifles in these calibres in these lightweight configuration,
If Kimber MA had one in ,would get one without a hitch or maybe i am not familiar with all the production there is...

If I can find a new T3 Sporter in 6.5x55 with a discounted price due to new models coming in with pot metal shrouds and steel recoil lugs, I'd be all over it! :)

I drank the 260 kool-aid, but this is spot on.

That's why I ask is the Light Weight Hunter is the same weight as the Sako for 699.... Get it in .260 or Creedmore. I just happen to like -284. But according to specs on website it's the same weight and the new synthetic stocks look nice, though I prefer the wood ones. I've used one for 4 years now, just found and bought 2 more for the kids as I find it to be the best value in a walking rifle available now. And in most cases it'll outshoot a Sako.... (Flame suit on!)....
