If you like the rifle, the price is one you can afford(and are happy with) and you reload or are willing to you might as well get it at least to look at it until you decide to part with it. One of the nicer things about rifles is unless you go custom you very rarely take a loss.

I have owned several 264 Win Mags over the years. Had a couple of custom 264's built as well.
They are a zinger, particularly when a 26" barrel is present. I loaded slowww burners behind the 140's
and was rewarded with a flat shooting number that would flatten game way, way out there without
ridiculous trajectories to deal with. Shot a very nice muley in Peace River country several years ago.
One shot at a lasered 528 yards. DRT. This is a great chambering. Buy that rifle...quick!

Small differences. Aerodynamic projectiles stop about 140ish gr in .264. So a great long range deer rifle, at closer range Elk, and even Moose. Where it lacks is against a very large bear. I would rather have a 175gr controlled expansion 7mm, or 200 gr 300 mag for that.
Most of my recent hunting has been south province. The 264 is ideal. If I was going to the Peace or Cassiar regions, i would take larger rifles, probably starting at .338.

The rifle itself it's like new, the gentleman that i bought it from said that the rifle was a gift from his brother back in the 60s, he claims that he only took 6 shots with the rifle and the rifle appears to be new.
Bluing is 100% and two really tiny dings in the stock , probably gun safe dings.
But i really wished it was a 26" barrel though.

I have a pre-64 M70 in 264 WM and think it's a very good calliber. . Winchester addressed the barrel issue by building the 264 with stainless steel barrels and that solved the erosion issue, but still, let the barrel cool down when at the range. This goes for all calibers and especially magnum ones.
Also have a couple of pre-64's in 270 Win and they're no slouch either but the 264 WM, especially with handloads,can out perform the 270 by a considerable amount. Enough to make it worth while owning one.

You got a super deal for a Browning Safari!!! Many regard those FN built mausers as some of the finest production rifles ever built. Stock finishes weren't the best with the varnish tending to craze and flake off. Collector demand is high for them south of the border. A .264 magnum with a .22 inch tube is basically a loud .270. The round shines with a 26 inch(or even longer) barrel and some of the new slow burners like Retumbo. No trouble to get 3400 fps with a stout 140 grain bullet.
I recently picked a Safari up in .243 Winchester with pencil barrel(Browning collector term). Best part of my gun is that FN didn't make a short action mauser so all the steel on mine is Sako built.
