I have both a .270 & .30-06 in bolt action rifles. Both have scope sights. The .270 wears an M8 6x Leupold. The .30-06 is sporting an old 3x9 Scopechief. Both of these rifles will shoot one moa with favored loads. Both rifles have harvested big game, my .30-06 has harvested moose, muledeer, whitetails, blackbears, coyotes and upland game birds (head shots on chickens) and snowshoe hares. The .270 has accounted for two mature whitetail bucks. For the last few years, the .30-06 hasn't come out of the safe. Why? Because it's BORING. It kills with predictable one-shot regularity so often it's not even funny. So my latest choice is now the great .348 WCF in my peep sighted Browning M71  Of course the .270Win. and .338WinMag will also see use by myself and daughter. Looks like another comfortable sleep for the old .30-06 again this year...KF
