I must know ,what is the name of your avitar I can't imagine that your that good looking 
Oh yea I think i'll love my 270 but i'l know more after the season, but I am pretty sure the 30-06 sucks those million of animals that have fallen to it were just really wimpy.

Oh for heavens' sake! - they've gone and forgotten to post the new rules in legaleze.
It's posted as a sticky in the "general guns' forum. So, not your fault (you win this time spider-man, but someday...!!!!)
here's the amendments...
1) Off-topic forum will be shut down. This will allow many to view CGN again at workplace ( ie, DND computers) No more religious debate, no one has his/her feelings hurt.
2) Swearing will be no more - apparently, people still cannot use swearing in the CGN acceptable manner. So zero tolerance from now on!
3) "#### disturber" or "idiot" ban - those who are nominted by 5 moderators for insisting on posting to instigate others or show downright lack of maturity or intelligence will have one 2 week temp. ban to improve attitude and IQ/maturity. If fail again, a permanent ban will impose.
4) Illegal or anything that is implying illegal activities were never tolerated! And we will be more strict from now on as we have rehearsed again and again. If you have any doubt, please use the "Legalese" forum.
The following topics will not be tolerated. Violation will result in immediate and permanent suspension. Some quasi legal/ grey/downright illegal examples that are specifically not tolerated are:
1) Shipping and driving items to Canada from the US that require US export permit.
2) Discharging firearms in places where firearms are not allowed to be discharged
3) Mixing potentially flammable and explosive substances
4) Unblocking 5 rd mags to regular capacity ( or how easy it is to do so)
5) Swapping non-restricted barrel for restricted barrel at gun range
6) Selling questionable "government" materials, ie Cadpat tactical vest
7) Homemade firearms will illegal or misleading marking , ie, marking a chunk of metal with "Valmet 78"
Cool Solicitation of unregistered firearms / mag kits
Violation will result in ban, deletion of account and there will no longer be PM sent to agrue the if and what if.
These rules are here to tidy up this place and ensure that CGN will be the premium firearms site for law abiding Canadian gunowners only.

now, back on topic; yep, haven't lost a deer yet with a 270.
I have owned both but I just got my new stubby souped up .308 in a 7mmwsm I think the guns you are looking to buy will be history in a few years, look what the 6ppc did to the 222rem,on the benches these short mags do it all, there lighter,faster more energy, You must have read some old Jack Oconnor articles but those days are gone,good mind you but get with it and buy a shortmag there very easy to get to shoot tite groups, my 7mmwsm has as much energy at 700 yards as the 270 at 500yards and sighted at 0 at 200 yards for both with same bullet ie;140gr the 7mmwsm is 11 to12' less drop. and remember speed kills.
