$295 Mosin M44's at ...

I'de rather pay more and have a nice one without spending a tons of dirty work, my quest continue... Just saying. JP.

As mentioned previously , it would be interesting to know where Collector Source is getting these rifles from as they look really rough in comparison to alot of other Russian Surplus which appears to be in perfect condition......if only these rifles could talk , what a tale they could tell....

Last round at $195, the circumstantial guess pointed to Albania or the general area (feel free to search the old thread). Most had Chinese bolts, mismatched #'s and beat up stocks. My metal work was pristine though.

This batch, who knows.

As long as there are still nice ones out there. Collectors Source is not my place to buy. Im just saying they are getting fewer and fewer, and one that already has some scratches on it has no shame to be tossed in the back of the pick up truck. Although I actually favor the M38 over the M44, but thats just me.

I have my pristine and museum pieces, they will never see the back of a truck, or get fired for that matter.

How do you find your m44 shoots in comparison to a 91/30?

The 91/30 will always shoot better than a carbine, but that said, any hunting with iron sights is still good up to 150 yards, or any bush hunting. They will all shoot Minute of a Deer :)

I got one from the last batch oddly enough mine came with no grease dry as bones and pine bristles and leafs in the barrel so yea was a bit rusty.... wish mine came greasy

Thanks ; I think I do recall that thread . There was kind of a feeding freenzy over the rifles ; and then some disappointment by some buyers at how rough the guns were when they actually received them . kind of reminds me of the feeding freenzy a month or so ago over some cheap SKSs that a dealer was unloading , then some customers were unhappy with the cheap BBQ paint jobs on their new purchases....

Just out of curiousity, does anyone know where these carbines came from? The sample looks like it was ridden hard and put away wet...

I got one and I am thinking Albania or Kosovo. Many were mix masters of Chinese T53 parts and unrefurbed (by Soviet facilities) Russian receivers. Albania was Soviet friendly then eventually denounced them due to political beliefs. In that time they would have received many Soviet arms as most allied states did. After that firearms and aid were received from China whom shared the same political beliefs. This could be the cause of the mix of parts.

My M44 I got from last years shipment has a T53 bolt in it. Although the rest of the internals look unissued. No wear on original matching magazine follower from steel cased ammo being run through it. No pitting or indications of rust ever touching the thing. Bore is a sharp mirror too. Stock is beat to poopoo though but retains original finish. Mine was also covered in a mix of cosmo and dirt indicating these may have been buried at some point too.

If mine could talk it would have some sweet travel stories I would imagine.

Here is the one i got from collectors sourse,it was a good rifle the bolt was mismatched and the stock had a few good dings but the metal was good with a very good bore.It was in original condt not referbed in any way ,would be interesting to know where they came from

I think these have been for sale a while now, no?

I'm wasn't very impressed with their 3% credit card surcharge so I passed on this deal a few months back. An extra $30 on the listed price doesn't seem like such a great deal on an ectropenciled rifle that I have majorly degunk as well. I went with a pristine refurb elsewhere instead.

30 isn't 3% of 295.
