3 Gun AR optic question

What do you use now to replace the frangible targets? I like the ability to use smaller targets to provide an accuracy challenge.

Rifles shoot paper from 0 to 75 and steel from 75 on out at our ranges. I've seen other ranges where they shoot steel down to probably 40, but AR500 doesn't last long at that range. For a more challenging target, go with mini paper targets and smaller steel plates.

Ignore my post, I misread

We use hanging steel past 50m. 5"-12" plates depending on which MP3G club we're at and how far we're shooting. Not having to reset it makes for much faster stage resetting.

Does your CFO require that all steel be shrouded as in Ontario?

Not to add to your confusion OP, but I use an Eotech with a 3x magnifier on one of my 3G ARs, and a 1-4 scope on the other.

I prefer the Eotech, as I can swing the magnifier out of the way when not needed and the reticle just seems to be easier for me to shoot accurately with.

Farthest I had to use it was 200yrds, but I had to issue.

I envy those who shoot irons for three reasons.

1. They can shoot irons.
2. They don't need to decide on optics.
3. They can shoot irons.

im thinking about switching my vortex strikefire 2 red dot to a scope and then putting on a set of 45 degree irons for closeup work...

So... I am leaning towards the Strike Eagle now. It seems to be the best bang for the buck or so the reviews keep saying.

It has been great reading the responses here. I continue to learn a lot.

Decisions, decisions.... looking at the Strike Eagle, Millet DMS -2 and Bushnell AR.

Buy once, cry once. Is one significantly better than the others? Why?

I'm running a Vortex Razor HD GEN2 1-6x24 SFP MRAD illuminated reticle with a BOBRO Vortex Mount, absolutely bombproof and the image is so clear when compared to the Bushnell AR

I'm looking at a Vortex Stike Eagle for an affordable entry level optic for 3 gun.

Can someone recommend what to put on a shotgun for 3-gun? Is it better to do open sights or a red dot?

For shotgun, I prefer a fiber optic front sight and a "V" cut notch at the start of the vent-rib close to the receiver, if you plan to shoot a lot of slugs.
From my experience, scoped or sighted shotguns do not seem to be any faster for most competitors at the matches I have attended...YMMV
