3 Gun Chest Rig / Vest Advice

Well I would guess that we have people in Canada that can and would be willing to participate in a "Ironman" three gun.

Sure... everyone wants to participate, but finding those willing to put in the hours/days/weeks of work to organize, set up and run such an event... That'a the buzz-kill.

I bet with the right venue, it would be attended very well.

I agree, but from what I've seen that venue has a name.... The United States of America.

Many of the stages I've shot at minor and major US 3-gun events couldn't ever be set up or pulled off here. Too many arbitrary make no sense restrictions on what can or more aptly, can't be done on a range.

You're right, we are not the US of A and we are doomed here.

Anyways, I use OSOE products for three gun events. They are an all inclusive company that will take anyones money for their product, doesn't matter if your fat or lazy they will take it.

it was only 1 stage out of 7 total and it was it's own seperate event the scores for it were alone. it wasn't mandatory it was voluntary.

I agree with JOHN IN BC,s advice; post # 17; he seems to know what he is talking about.

I shoot a little MultiGun /3 Gun as well. I keep my regular IPSC gear on my pistol belt. I don’t change anything on my pistol belt. That way I can still function with a pistol as efficiently (all though I'm not really that efficient!) as if I were shooting just a pistol match. I add a drop leg pouch for my rifle mags. It still allows me to go prone; which should be done in a rifle match. I add a Canadian Forces issue web belt above my waist that carries my shotgun reloads. I shoot Standard or Tactical class and the belt positions my California Comp Works shell holders perfectly. They are still tight enough to my chest that going prone is not an issue. In addition they are high enough above my waist to allow pistol use and reloading without complications. I have tried just about everything for locating equipment for 3 gun / Multigun use and this system is now what I advocate.

If you come up with a better system for you all the better but the above is what works for me. One thing I will caution you on is changing your gear around to suite each individual stage. I can always tell the guys who do that because they always waste valuable time looking around there belt for mags or shells or whatever they need during stages. The shooting skill you learn like drawing and reloading are all subconsciously (or should be) preformed and if you have to over ride subconscious thought by consciously looking for items during a stage you are asking for a disastrous run.

My $.02, hope it helps!

I loved the smoke too. Didn't see it in the end though, plus I think you'd get more style points with a cigar...
I think if you wanted a better iron man you might want to do it with the mags loaded. I think even a mediocre conditioned (ie: pudgy) could somewhat stabilize their breathing in the time loading (I could be wrong).
Now back to the task at hand.
Rigs for three gun/ multigun rigs.
I haven't made my rig yet but it seems every stage has different requirements and the mag fed shotgun adds a lot of bulk to carry the rounds you may need. So far I really like the thigh rig John uses for the AR mags, as for the shotgun I was thinking a modified magnetic pouch with a lower shelf and one side wall might just be the ticket. But then again maybe not...

I picked up an Eagle SKD chest rig a few years ago. With the advent of 10 round AR mags it's now overkill for me, but its still a very flexible piece of kit. Add some Valtro size pouches and it should be able to carry all the ammo you'd need.
