3 gun if the ban happens?

This is when the national sport bodies could provide constructive input.
For example, participation in sanctioned competitions and training could be eligible for ATT.
When the ban for .25 and .32 calibre pistols was in development, sport orgs were consulted and competition specific models were exempted, IIRC

This govt is unlikely to listen to any reasoning, but doing nothing will achieve nothing for sure.

The preamble explicitly states "Whereas the Governor in Council is not of the opinion that any thing prescribed to be a prohibited firearm or a prohibited device, in the Annexed Regulations, is reasonable for use in Canada for hunting or sporting purposes;"

so they arent going to talk to " sports " that they don't believe exist...

Its surprising how short sighted some people can be.

Letting Government decide what you can and cant have will have negative consequences for them too which is poetic justice. Just a shame normal folks are going to have to suffer for their stupidity.

When the govt bans fast cars, motorcycles, meat consumption, and detached single family houses they will get what's coming to them.

The groundwork has been laid. All those things are are bad for climate change.

Government knows whats best comrade!

There in lies the wedge a future Conservative Gov't might want to use to re-establish the legitimate use of some, if not all of the guns listed in the OIC. There two "International" Shooting orgs with divisions specifically designed for pistol caliber carbines. The AR15 platform in pistol caliber dress is one of the most popular platforms used in these disciplines. It may be a start.

Reversing in full the OIC is going to be a politically charged task where facts are only a small aspect of the risks involved for any future Conservative government. If we lose in court, and there will be a court challenge to all of this, our hope will lay in convincing the Conservatives it is in their long term benefit to toss some if not all of the OIC.

I am disappointed in some of the posts here albeit realizing the initial reaction can be one of shock.

Canadians are not immune to logic and the offset to this ban on firearms is funding for mental health, border services, police services and poverty. You reach out to those Canadians who really are ambivalent. To the hard core Canadians who politically reside on the left who see a need to deal with those addicted to drugs, suffer from mental issues and those who are the poorest in our country, promise to overspend in these areas. Quote an amount equal to or greater than what the Liberals claim will cost to buy back our guns. Point out the guns are arguably absent from the "gun carnage the Liberals suggest exists in Canada and we just might be able to convince the next Conservative government to cripple or reverse the bulk of the OIC. I do know standing fast on principle, when in front of a moving freight train, is not going to end well and never going to get our firearms off the wall and back on the range where they belong.

This is a issue where logic and facts differ to unfounded fear and emotions. Satisfy the fear and substitute the emotional target and you might come out on top. Just saying.

I don't think the CPC (or anyone else) can reverse only part of the OIC without first passing legislation allowing guns to move down in classification by OIC. It might be possible to amend a previous OIC via OIC but I've never heard of it happening before.

What does exist is repealing an OIC, which I think would be well within the laws of the Firearms Act, as it wouldn't be the new OIC itself moving the guns to a different classification, it would be the lack of an OIC maintaining them in their current classifications. It would be politically charged but would logistically be just as easy as the 3 days Trudeau spent reviewing the list and giving it the OK without telling anyone else.

Well I guess the first step is getting rid of Trudeau. We will get a chance once the Conservatives get done electing their leader and the NDP rescue their bank account.

As usual, very good points and well said Bob!

It is very likely that more people compete in IPSC, 3-gun, and PRS than hockey.

This. Either we get this OIC reversed or we are done. The over reach by Trudeau has drawn the line in the sand. I have two banned firearms worth approx. $3,000 and another two that will get banned eventually worth about the same amount. This recent action by Trudeau and his trained monkey Bill Blair (or is it the other way around), has set the final table. Either we win this with a determined Conservative Gov't tossing the OIC or you can kiss good bye your handguns, pump and semi-auto shotguns. before the decade is out. Open up your wallets to your gun org of choice and we might win. If you don't and prefer to whine on this forum about the sheep and the wolves then be prepared to accept the inevitable.

it will look like....

Cowboy Action Shooting with only the rifle and shotgun. Perhaps a airsoft revolver...assuming it's not banned.

Could always use bolt or pump guns, my Jungle carbine is sort of unemployed at this time. Don't get the idea I support the black faced creep though.
