Happily I do. Some of the work is internal and consisted of tuning and polishing.
You should be able to see the "welded up" lifter, the milled port and how the foregrip has been opened to relieve the hand hanging up on the formerly 90 degree edge.
Here you see the lightened bolt. Some may argue the benefits of this but the theory says that the gun should cycle faster.
This last shot shows my +2 extension of the Nordic eight round tube.

Thanks. I can't recall what the bolt lightening cost me but it was around $160.00 I got it for the cool factor as at the speed I can generate without hurting myself is a bit of a joke. Apparently, this mod is noticeable with an inertia action rather than the VM's gas system. One thing that is noticeable with the VM is that it's a "soft" shooter. Almost everyone that tries it comments on the softness of the recoil.
Yep. I finally got my wife out shooting with it, and her biggest complaint was the weight of the gun. No problem with recoil. The fact that she asked to shoot it again after her first attempt tells me that she actually enjoyed it, vs doing it for my sake.
Well if you're looking for a dedicated gun, what about the MKA 1919 (yes, restricted)? I know of one in Rocky that you might be able to try.
It's got mags, somewhat similar to AR if that's part of your 3 gun.
It's also becoming popular in the states for 3 gun...
I am enjoying the Versa Max so far. I basically bought one that had everything the tactical has except a longer barrel marked 3.5". I find the longer barrel is perfect for my body type. Casey at Taccord will be welding the lifter today. Our resident shotgun expert here , Pauls, did an excellent job milling the port and smoothing the shell catch!

I am slowly getting better. Here is a quad and a load 2 in just under 4 seconds par time. Sorry didn't fix my hair for the vid.

Okay the versamax is looking prettier and prettier. Time to shoulder one and see how it feels.
Question though: for magazine extensions, is it the same thread as an 870 or something different? I see some manufacturers do Versa-max specific mag extensions, while others have general Remington extensions.
If their versa-max specific extensions I can keep it in the states and swap tubes for shoots down south.

The VM tubes have different threads. But if you shoot in both countries don't buy two tubes as there is a cheaper solution. PM me for details and I'll tell you what I do. Also be aware that chokes are specific to the VM line too. They have finer threads than the older Rem models.
If you buy the VM Tactical, the so called Tactical choke is useless. It's ported and is also cylinder. You will likely want a full choke and a modified for the games. I also have one that is made by Trulock that is designated as Skeet 2 which is between cylinder and modified. I use that a lot.
Do not buy ported chokes as they put you into the Open division and you don't want that until you gain more experience.
As far as "shouldering" the VM, be aware that LOP and other adjustments to the stock are easy and the parts come with the gun. I fiddled with mine for a while and got a perfect fit.

Hercster, thanks for the pics of Benny Hill's work! While waiting for my lifter to get welded I made a Benny Hill forend.
That looks better than mine. My forgrip was different to begin with. Yours was rounded whereas mine ended with a 90 degree which caught the hand when loading doubles. I've since further smoothed out what Benny did. It's a little prettier now. Those guys are more about function than form. Benny also builds some high end 1911's and 2011's. A trip to his shop is like a kid going to a candy store.
Hey thanks. I am not even finished with the wet sand paper and little bit of oil to make it look more like factory. The rounding was done by pauls when he did the port. Great job I recommend him.
The thing I am working on now is adjusting my carriers to hold 2.5" shells without leaving a gap in between the top and bottom of the shells. I am getting a consistent 5 second and just under for two quads. I am sure if I adjust the carriers to fit the 2.5s like they fit the 2.75s I will be at 4.5 secs maybe less for two quads. I think that's the big difference with 3.5" shotguns, if you can legally do two quads and are good at it.
I have three quads (AP Custom) on my belt but 16 wouldn't help me much as I suck. For 3Gun and multi gun down here I have another vertical AP loaded with slugs if they are called for. I load those with the weak hand keeping the gun vertical. Most of the guys down here use chest rigs with a bazillion rounds at their finger tips. We have three guys here that do well at the national level. Fortunately they are good people and will help an oldie like me out when asked.
I think some of the fastest people load weak hand from vertical caddies. It's so much fun it should come close to being illegal. I shot my first match last winter after 55 years of not touching a scatter gun. I do everything the younger guys do only MUCH slower.
I have three quads (AP Custom) on my belt but 16 wouldn't help me much as I suck. For 3Gun and multi gun down here I have another vertical AP loaded with slugs if they are called for. I hear you! So much fun! I struggle to balance family time and match time as I have a wife and two kids. Doing good so far. Have a great wife who never complains so it's up to me to know when I push the limits.

Me too wife wise. I live in an RV both here in Texas and then in Ontario for the summers where I shoot at Silverdale and Waterford. To say it's "cozy" is an understatement. The back seat of my very large truck is completely filled with gun stuff. Half my living area is a "gun room". She complains occasionally but knows that without this hobby, I would go mad. As it is, I couldn't be happier. Saturday is practice day and we have a Steel Challenge match on Sunday. Two weeks from now will bring a 3Gun match and it goes like this week after week here. When there isn't a match there's a gun show.

I use a mossberg 590 with a speedfeed stock and masa 8 shell side carrier. Thats 9 in the gun and 12 on the sides. I love it. Ghost ring sights too. If we could have semi autos up to 8 or 9 shells Id use that but we can't. And loading is the thing that takes the most time.

See I think mag-fed is really interesting. But are there any mag fed semi's in Canada that are readily available?
I can legally start a shotgun match with 7 2.75" in my tube, one ghost loaded and one in the chamber for 9 rounds in my 3.5" Versa Max. If I use 2.5" make that one more. It still can't fit more than 5 3.5" shells in the tube so I am good.
