Versamax can be bought for 900 used
Versamax does not run well with 14 rounds in the tube, shellcatch issues , that’s why I would like to have a benelli.
There are plenty of videos of Canadian shooters being short a round or 2 for their shotgun. Show me some vids of ur stages. Loading a shotgun can make or brake a stage not having to load 2 or even a match saver load takes 2 seconds. I’ll take a benelli in the US all day and a versamax in Canada . Ps the 3.5 inch receiver is huge when u open up the port, no look quad loads all day, it’s like a black hole in there.

Where did you get these from? Does the shotgun still shoot light loads OK with these?
Some guys have had issues with light primer strikes on S&B Sport Slugs or anything else with a harder primer when using the TT springs.
A few people carry them, I got mine off Az tech armory. No issue with light strikes so far. Haven't tried slugs yet though. Reliable gun carries Taran parts, but are out of stock on the springs atm. Tactical Ordnance carries Taran Parts and has massive stock too but nothing listed on their site. I'd send him an email first.
So when talking gun prices, your comparison is a new shotgun to a used shotgun?
Any sportsmen Versa Max (used or new.) needs hundreds in dollars in parts (extended charging handle, bolt release, extended safety, loading port opening) to even be comparable to a factory m3k.
So new: 1100 (to be conservative), + 200 (charging handle, safety, bolt release), +100 port opening (or free if you value your time/labour @ $0/hr, mine is worth a lot more than that.) = 650 more.
Or used: 900 (I'll use your number.) + 200 (charging handle, safety, bolt release) +100 port opening (or free if you value your time/labour @ $0/hr, mine is worth a lot more than that.) = 450 more.
The used gun is 450 more. New is 650 more. The OP was looking for a budget shotgun. If he needed a stock 3.5" hunting shotgun, there are cheaper ones new.
I would like to see videos of Canadian shooters, being short 1 round (that a 3.5" chamber would make up for), that costs them a match/stage.

I might look for a different brand of slugs (even though bulk S&B are all I ever see in any decent numbers) if that happens. The factory trigger is pretty heavy, enough that it was the only other mod (aside from an extension) I've done / plan to, and instantly made it better.
You might not need it. I looked into it as well before I got mine, it seem it was a bigger issue with earlier guns. If it has an orange follower (plastic I believe), it's early. Later guns had a black metal follower. My extractor has a clean, crisp deep hook in it while the problematic ones were "rounded" from the factory. Of course this is just from some cursory reading / my own gun, but I'd inspect yours before buying one, it might be a rectified issue.
The main issue with the Stoeger extractor was not the shape so much as the roughness of the extractor cut in the bolt, and it gouging into the extractor and causing it to not function properly.
If you remove the extractor from the bolt and polish all the contact surfaces between the two, you'll most likely be ok.
upgrading to a Benelli part is just added peace of mind.
Ctscan, I'd still like to hear why people are intentionally adding extra weight to a 3gun shotgun.

I typically rank in the top 3 for the matches we run and I dont recall ever being screwed over by having a 3" chamber.
The only time I ever got worked over was when we were doing a match that didnt separate mag fed shotguns from tube fed in different classes, and pretty much every stage started with an empty shotgun. The one guy there that brought a mag fed shotgun absolutely cleaned house.

More like no fuel. And when the sport requires refueling and or mag changes anyways, starting empty just seems to be a reasonable part of that. Especially for a sport where people don't even have to carry their guns for the whole stage, and get to dump and stage them all over the place.
Or are you going to tell us that empty starts is the only part of action shooting sports that is impractical for the real world? Cause you store all your guns loaded?

Yeah, I am indifferent to it. Most people I have seen complain about it, do so because they dont like reloading a shotgun on the clock...... which is exactly why stage designers do it.
If you aren't being pushed past your comfort zone why even bother lol. It's why I shoot matches.
The stage I just designed (After getting my Versamax all set up last year, and going on about how I wish we could start loaded) is shotgun empty. Load on the fly. That's going to be part of my inspiration to work on my shotgun loading. Definitely a weak point, as it is with most people. Gonna start practicing those fancy quads! Lol
