30-06 How many is too many?

Okay, now in a bind - ran out of ones to look for!! Got several in m1917; got a Rem 30, have the FN Belgian military 30-06 (1950-ish), have a BSA model E (1950's?), just received the pre-64 Model 70 (1955). So what "good ones" are left, stumbling around in the mists of time before 1970??? I have no interest in a Savage, and realistically, something less than $1,500...

For me the number is two. I have one 30-06, a Sako 85, and it is my go to “big” rifle. It checks nearly all of the boxes for me; fits like a glove, light(ish), relatively compact, durable, decent iron sights, good trigger, so I have no requirement for another. In fact, between my .22 and the 30-06 I’m likely covered for all of the rifle hunting I’ll ever do. A good thing since those are the only two I have left.

Occasionally, normally after handling one, I think I’d like a cabinet full of nicely stocked rifles in classic cartridges. Then I realize I wouldn’t use them as banging up a clean rifle would bother me. The thought of not using a rifle I own is also disappointing, so the Sako is likely to remain lonely unless one of my children becomes interested.

Sounds like you need a Ruger No. 1A it would complete that nicely.

then sold it off and never owned another for 40 years give or take. I did finally break down and bought another Rem 760 in 30-06 last year.....then for some reason I made a deal for another one yesterday with another fine CGNer....this time on a tang safety Ruger M77, I think that 2 will be it for the old war horse cartridge.

*** And WHOOPS just like that a 3rd 30-06 has made it into my safe.....Nothing for 40 years then one shows up...then two...suddenly now three....it is a curse I tell you...a curse!!

Try to find a nice Brno ZG47 then add an NECG ghost ring sight.
