hey guys new to reloading have a couple of books but nothing covering components that I have. looking for data
for nosler bt 180 with imr 4831 powder for 30-06.Thanks

Go with bullet weight, it doesn't have to be Nosler. Start low and work your way up to max. Your rifle will tell you when the right load is found.

Go to the Hodgdon reloading data section (see sticky in the top part of this section) they have data for a 180 gr boattail with IMR 4831.

so I can use hornady data even with a nosler bullet?

Yes but never start at or near max. Start low and work up. I do it all the time with different makes of bullets in the same weight and have never had a problem. I did experience some surprising pressure signs with conservative loads years ago with Barnes X ( old style) bullets so since then I just start low and work Up till I find the sweet spot.

Just start with your IMR 4831 at 55 grains and work up carefully.
In my experience, most 30-06, 180 grain loads using IMR4831 cap out at 58/59 grains.
Usually, in a 22" barrel, you will likely 'graph 2750 or so with your best safe load.
In a 24", add 50 fps.

Go to the Nosler web site, click the more tab than click load data on the right, enter 30-06, and you will be brought to their new load manual, it's free on line. Start 58 max 62, most accurate tested 60gr

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU RECOMMEND LOADS!!!! This data is for H4831 not IMR 4831...they are different powders

I was shooting my deer rifle today and it seems to like IMR4831 and I like it because the recoil is low. I was shooting at 25, 50, and 100 yards. 100 yards I can get less than 2” groups if I don’t shoot too fast and heat up the barrel. At 25 and 50 yards it’s under an inch so the thick bush I shoot it works well. For my fire arm 53.0 grains of IMR4831 works the best. I have attached a picture from Lee’s reloading manual that suggests 51.8 to 54.0 grains of IMR4831. I use Core-Lokt from Remington projectiles as they were premium at one time and I don’t shoot that far. Also the overall length I use is a lot longer than they suggest and is matched to my firearm. Hornady has me starting at 48.4 grains

This on the other hand is ridiculously low!!
I start my 180/IMR4350 loads at 54 grains, and IMR 4350 is faster burning than is IMR 4831.
I have yet to find a 30-06 that would not digest 55 grains of IMR 4831 safely with any 180 grain bullet.
Believe me when I say I have owned at least 50 different 30-06 rifles in my lifetime.

It is no wonder that your IMR 4831 load kicks less....I would be willing to bet the farm that you are
sending those 180's out at 300 Savage velocities. :)
This means low recoil levels.

Actually, I think the 300 Savage with standard loads of 180 grain bullets would do a fair bit better than a 30-06 would with 53 grains of IMR 4831.
I'm looking at records where I once chronographed a 30-06 with 180 grain Norma bullets and 54 grains of IMR 4350.
Average velocity was 2436 fps.

I never chronographed this load to see what the velocity is. I have taken a few deer and a bear with this load and never recovered a bullet due to complete pass through. Where we hunt in Ontario the bush is a little thick and if you shot 50 yards it’s a long shot. So we don’t need a real good bullet or the velocities needed for longer range hunting. It’s kind of funny because this load is closer to the point you aim at 25, 50, and 100 yards than other loads.

I have the Lee manual too and I find their max loads are less than what the online data states. I am currently using IMR4895 and W780 supreme pushing 180 Nosler Partition. The 780 seems to have less kick and better power today. 2" high at 100yds with the 780. 1" high with the 4895. Same primers, same 3.320 coal.
