Try 12gr of 1680 with the 208gr Hornady. That's what mine needs to cycle reliably including BHO. I need to chrony them and do some accuracy testing now.
I haven't tried 1680 on the mid weight boolits but might have to give it a try. LiL'gun has been working well for me so far and I have a lot of testers ready for a range day. I'm hoping there are a couple accurate combo's in there somewhere.
I pretty much got inch and a quarter size 5 shot groups today with everything I had loaded up.........the bullets pictured above and some 147 grain fmj's I had on hand, but also with 160 grain plain base cast bullets. So now I am going to pick the powder that gave me the best results with each bullet and increase the charge until I get some pressure signs and or the best groups.
I almost consider the cast bullet load a success at this point anyways, 8 grains of powder and a primer means I can shoot it all day and only have to cast bullets to feed it.........

I have some M25 tracers (145gr 30-06 pulls) that I've played with in the 300BLK but my range doesn't allow tracers so testing has been very limited. Pretty cool shooting them though.

One thing I can tell you for sure is that the quality of the bullet will go along way to producing better groups. Pulled MIL stuff is not great for accuracy. For subsonics, by far the most accurate bullet I ever used is the Lapua 200gr subsonic bullet. They can be had from Hirsch Precision for surprisingly good price. They are actually cheaper than the 208 AMAX.
I did load up some but they didn't light for some reason. What colour is the tip on yours? I actually got two different kinds, one has a red tip and the other an orange tip. It was the orange ones I tried that didn't light. I'm not sure if the bullets are just too old or if the BLK is not burning enough powder to get them to light so I have loaded 10 or so of each into my 308 just to see if they will light.

Hmmm...? My 300 lit about half of them at 50yds and the 308 lit almost all of them at 100yds. I just figured they needed more distance.
I never looked close enough to notice the different tips. Just grabbed a handful and weighed them to see what the average weight was and started loading.
Now I'm thinking I'll have to load some more up and shoot them out to 200yds to see what happens.
That sounds reasonable. My 9.75 inch barrel needs 1.2gr more to cycle. Makes sense since your longer barrel would give the gas system a longer pressure pulse. I'm also running the Hornady 208gr.
What kind of accuracy are you getting with the subsonics? Have you done much testing or just found the minimum charge to cycle?

I use a 6 inch chop saw to cut the brass down then de-burr it before running it through the sizing die.

I heard a rumour of a good supply of 300 BLK brass coming to Canada in 2014. Should also be loaded ammo as well.
Apparently the US guys are getting them to cycle. The gas port has to be opened up to .125 and they have to run powders on the slower end of the scale but apparently it can be done.
Went to the range today and did a little playing with the 300BLK and the 208gr loads.
All cycled well but accuracy at 100yds was around 4 inches +/- so more work is needed but had fun anyway. Found that with my scope zeroed at 100yds with my 110gr V-max loads I had to come up to approximately the 350yd mark on my reticle when shooting the 208's.
Ran a couple mags of 110gr V-max loads and a couple 110gr Hornady FMJ'S (the funny flat nose ones). Didn't bother testing my 150gr FMJ loads since I was getting cold and didn't feel like walking out to set up new targets.

That would be a positive sign.When I talked to Gravel Agencies last summer they said there wouldn't be any component availability in Canada until at least early 2014 and they weren't even committal to that time frame. Claimed all available brass was being used for ammo production.
Only time will tell. Do you know of a dealer who has ordered brass? You can only buy them in 2,000 piece cases from Remington. Some dealers would be sketched out owning that amount of brass for a cartridge that doesn't have a great deal of traction here in Canada.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say their are probably more bolt gun users of .300 BLK in Canada then there are AR users.
