300 aac blackout

I heard a rumour of a good supply of 300 BLK brass coming to Canada in 2014. Should also be loaded ammo as well. :D

A retailer in Edmonton told me they were hoping to get bulk factory loads. He didn't give a lot of details but figured we would see better prices and bulk packages.
Sounds good to me :)

That would be a positive sign. When I talked to Gravel Agencies last summer they said there wouldn't be any component availability in Canada until at least early 2014 and they weren't even committal to that time frame. Claimed all available brass was being used for ammo production.

Only time will tell. Do you know of a dealer who has ordered brass? You can only buy them in 2,000 piece cases from Remington. Some dealers would be sketched out owning that amount of brass for a cartridge that doesn't have a great deal of traction here in Canada.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say their are probably more bolt gun users of .300 BLK in Canada then there are AR users.

I'd buy 2000 myself if it was a good price for decent brass.

When I spoke to Gravel, I told the rep I'd be good for at least (3) cases if I could get dealer price or better. They weren't much interested in bringing any in on "spec" unless dealers started calling for demand - which they weren't according to the rep. I figured there'd be enough interest here that I could easily sell it just to get the ball rolling on availability in Canada.

The bulk UMC ammo would be a great idea. Rem has recently introduced a UMC 220gr. Subsonic load that is not using the SMK bullet if I understand correctly. Makes them a whole lot more affordable.

Dealer has to buy $85,000 in product to get 'dealer' pricing - not sure if you'll have any luck buying a bit of brass as a end-user customer

Made up a 100 of these puppies so far. Damn, that's a lot of work... chop, debur/chamfer, lube and size, trim, debur/chamfer and tumble once more. Thank goodness for power tools. :p

Heck, you're just getting warmed up. I built 700 of them and have 500 in circulation now with various loads.
I ended up buying a 6 inch chop saw from princess auto, the RCBS case prep center, and the power drill adapter for my trimmer.
I'm interested to see what kind of case life we are going to get out of these.

Crafm has 300blk Rem 115gr ammo for 15.99

They also have hornady 110gr but more expensive

Plenty last time I checked.

I don't buy factory loads anymore. Even though the Remington 115gr factory loads work really well in my rifle I can reload for a lot less than that.
I also wouldn't buy any quantity of subsonic ammo unless you can buy a box to test. The Hornady 208gr factory load doesn't cycle my rifle but my 208gr BTHP Hornady handloads do.

I purchased 1 box of 115gr to try, shot fine.

I had some failures to extract today, and looking at the brass the rims are getting beat up after 3-4 reloads.

I tried H110 with 110gr, 150gr,168gr,208gr today (loads from data.hodgdon) and all shot fine and cycled expect for 208gr. I wasnt going for accuracy just wanted to see if i could use one powder for all the bullets i had.

I think its tme to make some more brass.

I think you mean distributor pricing. Any firearms dealer license holder should be entitled to dealer pricing. Regardless, Gravel knows there's been little dealer inquiries on .300 Blackout and without stocking dealers willing to place orders, retail end users won't have anything to buy. I was offering to buy it to help spearhead interest in the cartridge. I absolutely have no personal use for 6,000 primed cases.

I've said this for years. The lack of reloading components and relatively inexpensive ammunition is holding this cartridge back. Not everyone has the time, patience, or desire to make their own cases even if it is fairly straight forward. Lapua is coming out with .221 FB cases for 2014 so those looking for reliable sources of brass have at least got this option available if Gravel can't deliver the goods.

With any luck 2014 will be a strong year for this cartridge. Interest has been growing over the last year here in Canada.

I've shown my bolt guns at the range to anyone who wanted to look at them and I've let them shoot some if they were interested in doing so. I took my shorty Vanguard up to my gunsmith yesterday to get a Allen Gun Works linear brake installed and the smith asked to borrow my reamer for another interested customer. I was happy to loan it out for free.

My rifle won't cycle heavier than 130gr with H110, well it cycles some but doesn't lock back on empty. As soon as I switched to LiL'gun for the mid weight loads it cycled well with bolt lock back after last shot.

My rifle cycles the factory 115gr well and is very accurate with them but I don't like $16/box.

Yeah, I have a 6" cut-off saw from my days when I did golfsmith work, glad I kept it. I found a good cut-off length on the 223 cases that after sizing, only requires very minimal trimming to 1.358". Guess I'll keep chopping up brass till I get around 500 or so.

Anyone have feeding issues with resized Norc 223 cases?

If you can cut your 223 brass to 1.350 even when you run it through your sizer die it will grow to 1.358

I refuse to run Norinco ammo through any of my rifles so I have no Norinco brass. I doub't you would have problems since you are full length sizing and trimming to proper length.
