I have the 245gr Elite Hunters doing 2900fps out of my 300 PRC with a 26 inch barrel using R33, to heavy for what.......hunting or long range paper punching ?
I'm only pushing mine to 2850 right now, was up to 2950 but a little harder on brass..

30/06 is plenty for what I hunt. Or better yet a 7 Rem Mag.![]()
Do you have to single feed them like described using the special throated 300 RUM?

What is the twist on your barrel?
1-9.5 Benchmark, I’m trying a 1-9 Benchmark on my new build
No problem stabilizing a 245 .30 cal with.the 9.5 twist?
Someday I'll build a 300 PRC, it seems to do many things well
Why not build a 300 H&H, it has proven itself to be a champion cartridge for long range.
The 270 Win. probably won some local championships. The 300 PRC has a very long journey to prove itself, over and above other 300 magnums.
Actually has proven itself south of the border for quite a few years, Gunsmith Dave Tooley and Frank Green of Bartlein Barrels and a bunch from Hornady have used it extensively in localized F-Open matches as well as for hunting, it has had a few different wildcat names 30 Boo Boo, 300AI, 30-375, 30 Tooley, as you can see now its crazy popular south of the border like its offshoot the 6.5 PRC, Hornady cant keep up with Production for these two cartridges.
These guys are part of the reason the Military has adopted it so quickly after Hornady brought it on board, Frank Green actually introduced/demonstrated it to the US Military, once they realized the long range capability and accuracy of the 300 PRC due to the design of the cartridge it was a no brainer, of course for hunting inside of 500 yards it hardly matters what you use.
